upstairs or downstairs? where do you prefer to stay?

I always try to get the highest floor possible. When I was renting my first apartment, my grandmother scared me to death with her words of wisdom. " Burglars don't want to carry heavy stuff down stairs." I have been scared of ground floor apartments and hotels ever since.

I guess if I was worried someone would come in my hotel and steal the hotel's TV I would stay on a higher floor but most of the valueable's I travel with are pretty light weight I guess it does not matter which floor I stay on.

Since I have limited mobility I use an ECV (mobility scooter) when staying at Disney.
Ground floors are easier for me so I do not have to back in and out of an elevator as often. Also if I stay on the ground floor I will not need to use the staircase in case of an emergency.

Those are the main reasons I usually prefer a ground floor.

Snakes or other critters have not found their way to my doorstep at Disney.
I have seen a few bunnies on the grounds though.:)

If walking up stairs is an issue for your family, keep in mind that Caribbean Beach Resort also has no elevators. None in any of the buildings, if I'm not mistaken.

We prefer an upper floor. Noise.

Even on an upper floor, you can never be guaranteed that you won't get noise from people walking past the room. But it's typically not as bad.

I prefer the top floor as well, which is always why I request it. I'm not fond of people walking over my head. I'd never stay at a resort without an elevator, so no problem with that. I also used to request non smoking too, but that's not a problem anymore.

Personally, I prefer ground floor. But that's me.

Several times now I have stayed ground floor facing the pool and had no noise issues. Generally speaking, with the A/C on, I can't hear much outside the room.

Upstairs. We stayed ground floor at Pop once and it was unbelievably noisy--and we weren't even near a pool! Lots of people congregate to chat, smoke, etc.

I quess I am in the minority but I prefer ground floor, at the end of the hall so there is not alot of traffic. And away from the lobby and elevators. When you sit out on the patio it seems so much more beautiful when you can sit eye level with the flowers. Sometimes you can enter/exit through the patio door when some of your party wishes to go to the pool, playground or food area without using the elevator or long hallways.:thumbsup2
