:headache: I went to our local disney store the other day because they were having a semi-yearly clarence sale. I love these type sales since I have five grandchildren. Well the same flip flops I bought for $1.99 two weeks ago were supposedly now at an extra forty percent off marked at $1.99. So I ask the sales clerk if the extra off was just taken off at the register. She replied that the item was what it was marked. I said that can't be since I already bought some at that price so I asked for the manager. She told me the same thing -- the item was what it was marked. I found all of the so called sale items in the same way. It has never been this way before. I told her that I was glad Disney no longer owned the disney stores because this was not good business. She replied very snooty that "thankfully they have nothing to do with the disney parks."
I am going back today or tomorrow and see if it is the same way. Wish me luck.:confused3

Did the flip flops at your local store have red stickers on the price tag that said "$1.99"? Or was there just a sign with the price? The flip flops should not have been marked on their tags with a sale price. Additionally, the flip flops are still the same price now that they were when the sale started. They are not an additional 40% off. That only applies to red-marked items.

Maybe if you go back, ask to speak to the store manager for clarification.

Yes they had the red clearence tags on them. I always buy a lot during these sales so I am really hoping that when I go back it will be better.

In that case, they should have honored their mistake -- but those flip flops never should have been red-marked in the first place.

I went on Saturday and while I didn't buy flip flops, the items I bought were red tagged and I got 40% off the items.

The flip flops were marked 1.99, correct.

You are going back tomorrow. bring them with you in the bag and your recipet. Go to the corner, and ask "all red ticket item are additional 40% right" When they say yes, tell you have some items that it was not taken off and if they will fix it. Do not show them the flip flops until you have to and make sure to point out that they have a red sticker. If they refuse, get a manager.

HTH good luck

Except that this is NOT a true statement. The OP bought her flip flops BEFORE the sale so even if they are 40% off now they didn't "forget" to take it. What she appears to want is a price adjustment.

Based on what the OP said it is not an "additional" 40% it's the price marked is 40% off the orignal retail. Just because that's the SAME price it was two weeks ago doesn't mean that two weeks ago they weren't already on sale. If they have a red sticker on them for $1.99 it would seem to me that they were on sale. Re-signing and rearranging a sale does not mean you get a new discount. If the sign says "Take an ADDITIONAL 40% off the sale price" that is different from a sign that says 40% off. (And Children's Place probably does do regional pricing/sales. Most nationwide stores do)

(And I am sorry, but accusing the clerk of being snooty after telling them "that I was glad Disney no longer owned the disney stores because this was not good business." could be considred a case of the pot calling the kettle black!)

Our store also has the flip flops for $1.99 no add'l discount. OP - did you print and use a 15% off coupon from www.wishesgranteddaily.com? Its not much but if you buy a lot it adds up.

My mistake. I thought she brought them toay or yesterday. If she wants price adjustment, its not gonna happen.

I believe the OP is trying to say that she would have purchased additional flip flops and other items, had the store ran the clearance sale as most other stores......clearanced items (red tagged) will ring up with add'l 40% off.

I don't think she was wanting a price adjustment, she just wanted to buy more items at the awesome clearance price.

It appears that her store red lined tagged items and is calling that the clearance sale.

Some items....pajama pals were on "sale" for $7.99 each. Not add'l 40%. So I only bought one pair per DD. If they were clearanced I'd bought another set for each. It appears that the flip flops should be $1.99 sale. period.

I know at our store it was confussing to some people....some items on sale, some clearanced w/add'l off, etc.

Now the comments about not being owned by the DS wasn't nice, and the reply by the employee was really not nice.
Two wrongs.

Actually I bought the flip flops a couple of weeks earlier when they were on sale for 1.99 and I wanted to buy more now that they were an additional forty percent off. My complaint is that I was told the flip flops were already marked an additional forty percent off at the 1.99 price and I knew that was incorrect. Do I make any sense?
Also you weren't there so you don'tknow how her attitude was. I am sure she is normally a nice person but that morning she was diffently on the defense so maybe she had already had problems with the sale.

Hi, I'm in New York and purchased flip flops (@ 1.99) and water shoes for my DD and they both rang up an additional 40% off that price.:cool1:
Good luck getting an adjustment!:goodvibes

Oh I agree it is a great deal and that is why I had bought each grandchild 3 pairs ( fifteen pairs total).
I love the disney store because when I get a little homesick for WDW I just go in the disney store and get some of the magic. This was the first negative experience I have ever had at the disney store and I guess I needed to vent. LOL
I appreciate this board and the ability to talk things out. Thanks to all of you for your comments.

Our store had lots of stuff on sale, but the extra 40% off signs over certain places- where the sign wasn't,it was just the red ticketed clearance price- I almost bought ds a t-shirt,it was 4.99,I assumed it would be 40% off,it wasn't,so I didn't buy it.

From a CM's point of view, I can see the frustration of the manager. I can't tell you how many times when I work people are asking me if something's on sale or not, even if the item if clearly marked. However, from a guests point of view, I can see how people assume that everything is 40% off even if it's not. The stores do their best to sign merchandise, however we can only do so much.

I can't say one way or the other about the flip flops since I haven't worked in almost a week. I do believe though that last Friday they were ringing up at $1.99 though with no additional percentage off...but don't quote me on that.

The OP saying that it's a good thing the stores aren't owned by Disney anymore is a very hurtful statement. At my store, nothing has changed except for who signs my paycheck. For any long-time CM who went through the change-over, it's still a very touchy subject and it does hurt me when people make comments about that. I'm not saying that response from the manager was nice, however, if somebody would say that to me, I would be very hurt.

Thanks so much for that - I was surfing the DIS and found it - I just spent $75 at the Disney store on 7/4 and will be going back for an adjustment! I mean - that's $10!!!!!:cheer2:

Sorry to be the voice of disappointment, but price adjustments for a coupon are not permitted.
