****UPDATE POST 74 PAGE 5****

Let me start this out by asking for no flaming.

My upcoming trip is 12/11/10. I made our reservations back in June. I got my price quote, my husband and I discussed it.. and then we agreed on the price. The lady that I spoke with was very friendly and we chatted for probably an hour about the reservations, Disney and my children. My DS will be 3 on 11/29/10. He misses getting in for free by 12 days. I was fully aware of this when I booked. The CM that took my reservations went on and on about how I should go before his birthday, to save money. We could not do it then, and chose to pay the extra.

Fast Forward to yesterday. I was looking at my reservations online. (after receiving a confirmation of my last payment) It has my son listed as 2!!!! :scared1: My daugher's age is wrong too. She is 6 and it has her as 5. I am so upset over this. The CM even asked us for the exact birthdates. I gave month, date and year.

I called yesterday and spoke with a CM about this. They told me that I would have to pay the extra money. I do not have the extra money in my budget. After about 30 minutes of different discussions and being put on hold, she came back and told me that he is in the system right now as 2, and that I could leave it at that.. but they could not tell me what I should do.

I really don't know what to do. I don't have the extra money (with the trip coming up and Christmas) I had planned on paying for him being a three year old. ..I agreed on a price quote, but was giving the wrong information. I don't know what the extra amount would be, but I am guessing $300+.

ETA: I also want to add that it is about $300 dollars more this year than our trip last year. This is why I didn't think anything about it. We are going the same exact week, and the same value resort.

are you on the dinning plan? How many ticket days do you have?

Yes, we are on the dinning plan. We have 7 ticket days. All of our table service meals, except for one, are buffets.

I'm confused. You have to pay extra because they have their ages as younger than they actually are? I would think it would be cheaper.

I don't think they did this on purpose. I think it's a flaw with Disney's system (One of hundreds) When you booked the kid was two. It does NOT always "recalcuate" properly. IT takes the birthday at the time of booking, does the "calculation" and gives you a quote.

(Libaryfreak, the problem is she has to pay MORE because her child is over the "FREE" age)

It is cheaper if he were two. But he is not two. Once they hit 3, you have to pay for a child's ticket.

do you have the 25% off value promo discount going on during your dates?

No, I don't think it was done on purpose. But, it was specifically mentioned that he was going to be 3. You would think that they would look and see that.

yes, her child is 3 at the time of her trip so she needs to pay for his food and buy him a park ticket.

do you have park hopper? you could get rid of that to save some money.
also did they apply the 25% off code?

I have the free table service dining for 12/12 - 12/18. The first day that we are there, I could not get it. They did a split stay. I have a reservation for 12/11 and then a reservation for 12/12-12/18.

Could I use the 25% off for the one "night only" night?

I'm actually afraid to not get a park hopper. This is our second time going. Last year, we would go to a park in the morning..go back for naps.. and then go to a different park in the evening. The MVMCP is going on while we are there and it is I think 5 nights....so it messes up a few of our plans.

Thanks for the suggestion. It is one that I will consider.

If you're staying at a value, you had to upgrade from the quick service to the regular dining plan, right?

You may need to drop the upgrade and then pick one character buffet to do out of pocket. They would help make up the extra.

I am not sure what to do in your situation. But I agree there is some flaw in the system. My DS was 6 months at on our last visit and they had him listed correctly as a infant but this year they have him listed as 2. He is not 2 nor will he be 2 until 2 months after we return from Disney. They think it not a big deal but I foresee problems in the future if we decide to take another trip next year before he is 3. I do not understand why they cannot get the ages correct. (we have spoken to numerous CM's). :confused3

I think right now it is a moral dilemma for you more than anything...If you don't have the money to pay for him with the age adjustment you have to decide if you can live with lying about his age and him getting in for free when he shouldn't. I do understand the mistake but I also see on every invoice and update they send us my DS's age listed incorrectly.....

I was able to get a PIN (thank God) for the table service dining for 6 of the 7 days that we are there.

Well since his food will be free with the dinning plan I would go ahead and add him and get his ticket.

If you were not on the dinning plan I was going to say get his ticket thru undercover tourist.

I would just not do a park on the 11th.

I had something similar happen.. split stay came day before free dinning. Free inning actually started on my daughter 3rd birthday. I went ahead an got her the plan and tickets even through we had a room only the night before.

If you have park hoppers I would get rid of that. a 7 day base ticket for him would be $224

Right now taking park hoppers off and adding your son would cost you another $44 to your current package

So are you saying that all total, you have to come up with an additional $300?

If that's all you need, could you cut $150 each from the kids Christmas gifts? (Assuming you spend over that much..)

How about others you are buying for?

Do you have any old gold you could sell? (There's a thread about it here somewhere..)

Cut back on groceries/lunches/Starbucks/ etc. till your trip? (Again - assuming you do any of those things..)

Take a hard look at everything you have - everything you do - and everything you plan on doing - between now and then - as well as Christmas expenses..

Hopefully you can find someplace where you can squeeze that extra $300 out of..

Good luck! :goodvibes

Ohhh... I understand. They gave her a quote based on the child being 2. I would be upset also. Whenever I've had to get quotes on the internet they always ask the age of the child when they're traveling, so I too would of assumed Disney was doing the same thing.

I'm sorry this happened to you. Hugs.

I guess I thought that it would automatically switch his age after he turned 3. Since he wasn't 3, now, it would show up until he did turn three. My daughter wasn't 6 until September.. so I didn't think anything of it after getting my first confirmation.

You are absolutely right. I have a six year old. I don't want her hearing me lie to someone about his age.

Do/will they question?

Thank you for the suggestions. I don't know yet what the difference is. The CM that I was speaking with could not get someone in reservations. I think I am going to look at taking away the park hopper. I need to see if I can figure that out...with our current dining reservations. That may help a lot. I just like the freedom of going where we want.

I have already purchased all of the kiddos' Christmas presents... and the trip is in 35 days.

I appreciate everyone being nice about this. I was afraid that I would get yelled at.. and someone would think that I was trying to cheat the system.
