WOW, I just ran the numbers and figured out that my offer works out to be better than free dining. If I stayed at the BWI for two weeks with passes (3 ad 1 ch) and no dining (or free dining) it would be 6183.30, but my offer is 5990.10, SO the way I see it I got free dining and a discount. Yippee

Got an upsell....

This is what happened...
They offered me an upsell for June 3---I didn't a ressie for that date.
I have called about this date about 3 times in the past.
I researched wh/ resorts were full or near full....I don't know if this had anything to do w/ me getting the offer or not.

I needed 1A 1teen - 5 nights
Today, I first asked about POFQ-no available.
I then asked for YC- only suites avail.
She offered BWI (upsell).
I was told that if I let it go I probably wouldn't get it back. I know from experience years ago that she was being truthful....she was not just trying to make a sell.
Well she was absolutely wonderful...she allowed me time to calculate ...ask for every possible senerio....for ex: adding the rest of the family, trying different dates (we already have a ressie--doing a split stay) using our current ressie to see if we had an offer (upsell) w/ it. About what seemed like an hour later I made up my mind and made the reservation.

This is what I got:
1A,1teen -1 day base tickets
5 nights BWI
no trip insurance
total offer = $1356.67
reg season rate per night = $359
I got upsell per night = $215.81

I backed out the base tickets and figured that I got an upsell = to 40% off the room. I had to get the base tickets to get the upsell.

Also worthy of note, we have a ressie for May 27 since we are doing a split stay. She checked to see if there was an offer against that ressie. There was! It was at YC. However, this offer was not as good as the one above...at least I don't think....it got very confusing!!!!! But you can try for upsell offers on current ressies and see what happens. I had not even thought to do that until the CM tried it.

Good for you! Is it a 1 day park ticket and then you added 5night of just dining?
I think I got a great deal today when I called. My dates are 7/4 - 7/11 so 7 nights with 5 of us ...I have tried and tried on different websites and have gotten quoates. Mousesavers suggested spliting my stay into 2 reservations because it fell on to different season rates...doing that did save me a lot. I had that saved in My vacation on the website....and thenI decided to call and ask for a discount....the CM member said let me check and I saved another bundle...so I booked it.
7 nights / 7 day hopper/water & more PLUS dining at the Beach Club for 5 people 2 adults and 3 kids ( 13, 9 & 7) for 4141....is that good?

Try booking 7/4 - 7/7 then a separate booking for 7/8 - 7/11....the seasons chnage on the 7th..doing it that way I was able to do the above package for 4500K.(online WDW)..then when I called ...I played very nice ..telling him it was our first trip and how families of 5 get the shaft...I waited along time while he checked and checked...He told me about POR, but I told him I really would love a deluxe and I knew that GF & BC had rooms for 5...then I asked him if there are any deals...he punched in numbers and said he had a code that he used...if I hadn't done so much research I wouldn't have thought it was that great of a deal...Ay one point he made me waited to "make sure the computer would take the codes"...

Later I called back b/c I noticed on the website that it didn't state that my pack had the DDP - but the new CM told me it was there and that he also noticd that I got a special and he seemed kinds surprised...My guy was named Cosmo....good luck!

Congratulations to the lucky upgraders! I have gone to WDW too many times to count and have never received an upgrade of any kind -- free or paid for. Maybe I'll call and check some rates at different resorts and see what happens.

I had initially booked a room only at Pop, but after thinking about it, I didn't think I'd really like it too much as we are DVC members and used to having a lot of room and amenities. I called AAA yesterday and she offered me a great rate at POFQ which turned out to be an upsell, I think. When I called her back after crunching numbers and realizing it was a great deal, it was too late--GONE. Anyway, I called Disney directly today--no deals. Called AAA 3 separate times with 3 separate agents and BINGO-- finally got the deal at POFQ. So for only $30 more TOTAL we are staying at POFQ rather than Pop. I'm very excited.

For those who got the upsell, did you hit to do a room only or pkg reservation? From what I understand, when you hit the number, depending on which one you pick, it sends you to a completly diffrent place.

I was just playing around on the Disney site yesterday with the Free Dining Dates. Working out what the difference in costs would be. I'm not sure if there was a problem with the system but it costed Pop for 14 nights with 5 day tickets for the bargain price of $1805. I changed it to 10 nights it quoted $1019!!.....I should have printed it off....I checked again later the rate was alot higher.

Has anyone gotten the upsale for the fall or winter dates?Also has anyone be able to pay their deposit in the 14 days,instead of while on the phone?We had a upsale years ago when we already had a ressie and we've never gotten one since.Would love to go in the fall or winter but price is the issue.Also have you all first asked for a package rate or AAA,etc or just rate without anykind of discount?Any help would be great.I understand that the rates just pop up on the CM's screen,cause many years ago when that happened to us while I had them check my ressie we had at the Caribbean Beach and already had deposit on it and they offered us the GF for the same price.I didn't beleive it at first,seemed to good to be true,but of course we took it and got lagoon view at GF for the price of the Caribbean Beach.Since then nothing.So any help would be great.Thanks again.

Yes, it was only $30 more for the total package for 6-day hoppers, room at POFQ and the dining plan for 2 adults. The total pkg. came to $1510.

We got an upsell a few weeks ago...we were booked at CSR, waterview, 9 nights, 10 day tix w/ ph & wp. We switched to POR, and saved 740.00. The waterview change to standard would have saved about 150.00 or so, and we didn't want waterview anyway. That was the only way we could book at CSR since standard was sold out. We stayed within the same catagory of resort and saved money. We also added dining, which we planned on doing anyway. It isn't free dining, but I am not complaining! It beats a AAA rate!

Our dates: 8/5-8/14.
