What a nice surprise! A great way to start off the trip with Pixi dust from friends! All those goodies have made me hungry! The photos of the Villa are so nice! I would not expect that from AKL given it is a "lower end" deluxe guess the villas are opposite though! So pretty!

It was wonderful pixie dust and great snacks when we skipped lunch. I've never seen a standard room, but these could not be beat.

The gift was delightful and Mark loved his hot tub.

hey Kathy, guess who we might meet NICKI!!!! if we can work out a good time, maybe the 20th or 21st!

They drive in on the 20th, so the 21st would be your best bet. If you do see her, give her a hub for me...I miss her so much.

Great room pics and your view looks amazing! No wonder you didn't want to go to the pool.

Aaw that is sweet of Tim and Mel to send you that gift - I love how it is Halloween related!

Kathy - you almost have me sold. I found myself looking at rental points for AKV... it looks wonderful... the hot tub looks great! That's one thing missing at the Poly for sure! I could sit in that all day while my fish... er kids.... swim!

Tell photobucket to knock it off... we need more pictures!

Amy, I really think you would like AKV. That hot tub was amazing. I always hated that the Poly didn't have one.

I'm going to try to get the rest of Day 1 up and the start of Day 2 tonight...and I promise there are lots more pictures of AKL.

I love the bathroom at AKV, the Lion King tiles are so perfect! I love all of the Lion King touches everywhere, they're subtle, but they fit in so well with the theme!

I don't blame you for not going swimming, I'd much rather stare at giraffes than swim!

The bathroom was huge...it was impossible to capture it all.

Giraffes were my favorite, but I loved the other animals too.

I would have had a hard time leaving that view too! I do miss those jacuzzi tubs in the DVC's sometimes...

So did anybody from disboards see your cool backpack and comment on it? That was so sweet, see how loved you are around here!

Not a single person noticed my backpack and I had it on the entire trip. Someone did notice my Lime Green Mickeyhead when we were at the TTC (her mom is a moderator here on the DIS).

Jordan, I have met so many wonderful people here who have become "family" (and I know you have experienced the same thing). My BFF, Nicki, and I met on here four years ago and she is now my "little sister." Tim and Mel are super nice people and I am determined to meet them in person one day.

Mary, I'm glad the package arrived for the girls...I was getting a little nervous. Yes, we did share some of the goodies with the girls.

When I left you, Mark had come back from the hot tub, we had received a lovely gift from that's nice (Tim's family) and were getting ready to shower and go to DTD for shopping, dinner and our first DIS Meet of the trip.

We went to the underground parking and got the car and drove to DTD, leaving around 4:40 p.m. We parked near where the old McDonald's used to be and headed towards the shops. As we were on our way, we passed the Lego store. They had a part of it blocked off -- no more 7 Dwarfs , but I did get a picture of these:

We hit the World of Disney store and, of course, had to try on a few of these "beauties":

And finally....

From there, we strolled over to Raglan Road for our dinner. I'm not going to post pics of food, etc. If you are interested, I have a dining review going here: http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2783920

I will say we really enjoyed our meal here.

From there, we headed to the West Side to stroll around. We stopped in the Candy Shop and I got this pic (in time for Halloween):

We stopped and got Mark a cigar for when we got to Marco Island with his beer on the dock.

Around 8:10, Sophia texted me. We were to meet her and Joe (Sophia is ohiodisneylover here on the DIS) at Fulton's for drinks. We met them for the first time last year and had a drink at the CSR, and didn't want to miss an oportunity to get together again.

I had written down we were meeting at 8:30...guess I screwed up. We hustled to Fulton's, but it ws packed so we went back to Raglan and sat at the outside bar.

The guys had a beer, and Sophia and I had a Brandy shake of some kind that was out of this world (I could have had a second, but we were getting tired).

We got back to the resort around 10:00 and I took a wonderful bath in the jacuzzi tub, did a little DIS time and Facebook time and then we went to sleep.

This is going to be picture heavy, but let me just say that when I walked into the villa, I just burst into tears. It has been my dream to stay here since the resort was built; when I walked into that room and headed right to the patio doors, I just lost it.

This made me tear up! I love that this dream came true for you!!!

Wonderful room pictures - it's SUCH a stunning resort. When we stayed there I couldn't walk down the hallway without stopping to gaze out.

And what wonderful friends you have in Tim and Mel! So thoughtful! Such a nice surprise.

Man, now I'm thinking I have to try AKV one of these days. I loved the resort when I visited for Sanaa and now seeing the rooms and view...

All these Disney plans, I'm going to need to ask for a 300% raise!

Kathy, You already got some beautiful pics at AKV, especially my buddies the giraffes! I love your reaction to the resort - that's how I felt when we stayed there - it was only for 2 nights, but I felt so blessed to really be staying there!

You know, I love seeing the intricately crafted Lego sculptures they have there. I wonder if they accept volunteers to help with the demolition of old ones though? Everybody knows it is as much fun to tear Legos apart as it is to put them together.

Looks like a great evening at DTD and some time well spent with DIS friends.
