Upper Endoscopy and Colonoscopy/ the PREP / Help/

I'm starting to think that Alpental has a fetish for colonoscopy and prep. I think the OP has this took care of in 8 years.

Yes, but when they pop up with a current comment, who is looking at the year........:guilty:

I always scroll back and look through the comments before I post. I don't want to post things that were already discussed/answered/resolved. I happened to see a poster that has not posted in years, so I was prompted to look at the date of the post and sure enough it was eight years ago. 8-)

And I was reading all the comments and found it odd that there were so many pages...lol

I need to pay attention a little more!!

Every doctor uses a different prep. They say some clean out better than others.

I have done two colonoscopies and used two different preps. The last one he gave me a prescription for Supper Bowel Prep Kit - absolutely disgusting. I did not think I was going to make it through the second round of drinking this mixture. I sent hubby out to buy butterscotch candy and threw one in my mouth - swished it around to get the disgusting taste out each time I took a sip. I almost gave up and then thought of what my family members went through their own cancer ordeal.

I did tell the doctor the next morning that I don't know if I could do that prep again. He did remove precancerous polyps so back in three years (next year).

On another note - I went for this second one - a year late. Had I gone when I was supposed to - a year prior - what if I did not have the precancerous polyps then (I know they take time to grow)? I would have been cleared and then go back in 5 years........those precancerous polyps would have had time to grow and turn cancerous?

I understand that but if you have trouble keeping the junk down it's not much good. I've read a couple of posts where people had to call and cancel at the last minute because of vomiting. Also people who have such a terrible experience that they don't go back. So while I can understand a little vomiting is better than dying of colon cancer, it seems to me that doctors should do their absolute best to find something that works without making their patients so miserable. When it comes to things like Golytely the absolute best review I have read is, it was absolutely horrible but somehow I managed to keep it down. Why I think, Why do doctors keep prescribing it. Yes it works but so do plenty of other preps that are much easier to tolerate.

I was also almost tempted cancel since I did not think I would be able to get through the second part.........

I hear you on that - give what people can tolerate/like.

Or has an alternate prep the are trying to promote? I never read the article they referenced in another thread. I wonder now if it promoted something specific.

I'm currently doing this...as I type. I just drank the first prep (suprep) and am now downing 32 ounces over an hour. Then , unfortunately, I scheduled mine for early morning, I'll be getting up at 1am to take anti-nausea pills then drinking that stuff again. Last time, five years ago, it was tough going and I vomited. I'm hoping the anti nausea really helps.
