Quick question -- I'm trying to convince my sister to come with us on a girls only trip in October. She doesn't have a lot of spare cash because she's losing her job in July and is possibly moving as/if she finds a new job.

We'll only be at the parks for three days, but will want to hop, and will be going to PI one night. So our options were to buy a park hopper with days we don't need, or an ultimate park hopper. (Actually, the Stars and Stripes pass.) We know we can save unused days on the hoppers, but my sister doesn't want to spend more cash NOW if she doesn't have to.

We've lookked at the UPHs, but we're going to be checking in on Wednesday, going to the parks Thursday-Saturday, and checking out on Sunday. According to WDWIG's ticket chart, we have to get 5 UPH days for 4 nights. In order to get 3 UPH days, we can only be checked in 2 nights.

So.... I've heard about dropping the first and last days of the UPH -- easy, hard, thoughts? Can we drop both the first and last day?

I've also heard about making separate reservations, but is it going to be annoying to keep checking in and out, since we'd need to make at least two separate reservations?

I am wondering the same thing myself. How complicated is it to check out and check back in? I made a reservation yesterday with the FT package - 9 nights at the WL for myself and two cretins - I mean children. I just called to drop switch our last day to room only which saved $124. We have any early flight so we will be in the parks the first day.

So, do they ususally have you switch rooms or is the procedure normally painless?

If you wait to purchase your UPH's at resort checkin, they will indeed remove days from your UPH. THey can pretty much tailor it to whatever you need. The tradeoff to get this is that you will have to pay a slightly higher price for the UPH than if you bought it in advance.

UPH's that are purchased as part of a vacation package cannot be changed or altered at all.

As to the changing rooms question, there is always the chance that you may have to do that but it is usually very remote. What you need to do is tell WDTC/CRO to link your reservations by marking them as "continuing reservations". This will alert the resort that you have multiple reservations running consecutively and wish to stay in the same room. You can also call or fax this information to the resort 4 days prior to your arrival if you'd like. Then mention it again to the front desk CM when you are checking in.
