Has anyone upgraded while at Port Canaveral, with great discounts? Thanks.

If you are set for a specific category then I would book for it from advance and not count on receiving an upgrade at the Port. We had an inside Category 10. If we were able to then we would have upgraded however, if not, then we would have no problems remaining in the cabin we had chosen. Once we arrived at the Port there were no upgrades to be had. Were we disappointed ..sure ..did it ruin our vacation no! since from the beginning we were not anticipating in receiving an upgrade.

The ship was at full capacity except for a very few inside staterooms.

You can purchase upgrades at the port, but very rarely for a discounted price. The price will usually be the difference in the price for that category and what you have already paid. Free, complimentary upgrades are even more rare.

I have heard that on some lines, you can go to guest services after the ship has sailed and price an upgrade, sometimes at significant savings, but I've never heard of anyone doing this on DCL.

Vivig's advice is sound. Book the category which will be acceptable for you to enjoy your vacation. Don't count on a free or drastically discounted upgrade, they just don't happen very often and you'd likely be setting yourself up for disappointment.
