We already have purchased tickets for our upcoming September trip and it looks like we might be booking another trip in May.

Can we upgrade our current park tickets to an Annual Pass at the discounted DVC rate?

Thanks!

Yes. Use your tickets ONCE to activate them and they will apply the current gate price towards the purchase of your APs as long as they were purchased at WDW and regardless the price paid at the time. If you're DVC members, the DVC pricing isn't technically "discounted." It is our price so it's not like they are applying to an already discounted ticket price if that makes sense.

Face values varie if your tickets were purchased from an authorized agent rather than a gate at WDW. You will not get anything less that what you paid applied, however, as I understand it.

I bought them at the Disney store at 2011 prices, so once used I'll get the 2012 value as a credit right?

What does an annual pass currently go for? $452.63 for adults?

Correct. That is what I have always understood, though admittedly, I have never actually done it.

With taxes, that sounds about right.

I seem to remember reading one of Cheshire Figment's posts recently explaining that they are not applying current gate prices to non-Disney purchased tickets anymore, but I could be wrong. I'm reasonably sure they still do it for any ticket pruchased directly from any Disney-owned source.

Anything and everything you ever wanted to know about WDW tickets can be found in this wonderful thread complied by Cheshire Figment, who is, BTW, a WDW gate ticket agent At BB and Epcot, mostly) and has been for years.

They gave me full gate price on my UT ticket when I upgraded.

No, I think it is the opposite. Disney will no longer bridge full price tickets bought at ticket windows. (so now there is no reason to buy extra tickets at the park?) But you can still bridge discounted tickets, including UT, room package tickets (sold to Resorts at a discounted rate) And Disney Stores.

"Tickets which are sold by ticketing operations at wholesale prices are eligible for price bridging. This includes, for example, AAA, The Disney Store and authorized resellers such as Undercover Tourist or Official Ticket Center."

Hakepb is correct. It's Disney direct purchased tickets that aren't bridged now. My theory is that they can't stop bridging those 3rd party sales because they don't know what the buyer paid for them. So they wouldn't know what to bridge from. If they bridged from the wholesale price that the 3rd party purchased at, guests might end up paying more than buying from Disney. So if they want to maintain that 3rd party authorized reseller channel, they have no choice. That's my convoluted theory, anyway. I think I explained it better in the past too. :-)

Thanks for clearing that up, guys. I knew something funly had happened, I just had it backwards.

vicki_c: I like your therory. It sounds right on the money to me.

Thanks for all the info!

What info do they need when I purchase the annual pass? Does my husband have to be present or can I purchase it for him?

Are you limited to the number you can buy?

There is a limit of 8 Annual Passes per household, per 12-month period.

To purchase APs, you need your DVC Membership Card and Government Issued IDs with Photo for all Adults. All persons must live in the same household as the member.
