We are booked into a 2 bedroom HA SV room from Aug 16-31st. I called MS to see if we could upgrade to concierge and they transferred us to the Front Desk, who wanted to transfer me back to MS. Front desk said we are already on the 6th floor. My question is - can I upgrade to concierge for a few nights and must we use points to do this? We are already using 700 points for this trip. Or can we pay cash to upgrade? I do not want to change rooms and as I have a 12 yr old in a power chair, I have to have the HA room. Thanks SS

Not a clue if you can pay to upgrade while using points, but just an FYI. I tried it once. There is NO discount. It was bascially the difference between my current AP rate and the FULL concerige rate. I would expect them to charge an arm and a leg for a 2 bedroom LOL!

There are only five two bedroom lockoffs on the 6th floor at AKV. Did you book the Concierge level two bedroom lock off? Or did you book a different two bedroom lockoff? All two bedrooms are lockoffs at AKV in Jambo House.

You need to look at your confirmation sheet to see exactly what you booked. If you didn't get the CL two bedroom, then you cannot get concierge privileges. Unless you booked directly through CRO for cash and not on points.

Your reservation has not been transferred to the resort yet, so the front desk would not have any idea where your room is located.

Our reservation states that we are in a 2 BR L/O Savannah View Jambo with Accessible Vacation Home Confirmed. I was surprised that Front Desk knew where we are staying, - I thought he knew because of the accessible room we require. He was not sure what to do with the Concierge upgrade.(neither was Member Services). Thank you

MS should not have transfered you to Front Desk -- likely a fairly new employee who did not know what to do and got creative. Front desk may have your type of room but was wrong in saying it was on 6th floor unless a mistake in the reservation has been made and you have accidentally been given a concierge room, i.e., if you are on the 6th floor you are in concierge. The 6th floor above the lobby is the DVC concierge level -- there are 5 2BR lock-ffs there, thus 10 concierge rooms possible and there is no 6th floor anywhere else in the building . There is no "upgrading" by cash or otherwise from AKV savanna view point cost room to concierge. To get concierge (rooms and service) you must get it by reserving one of those concierge rooms with points and the only way you can get it with points now would be to cancel your savanna point cost room and reserve at higher point cost the concierge level rooms and that is likely impossible because conciege rooms are generally booked solid well in advance of a date. Only other option is to skip doing DVC and just rent concierge level through Disney (Disney's conciege hotel rooms are on the 4th floor).

You do NOT have concierge, and will not be on the 6th floor. The only way to get it would be to call member services to see if it's available, and change your reservation to that. I doubt it's available, though - those 5 villas go right at the day the 11 month window opens and only 1 of them is HA. The front desk person, as someone else stated - didn't know what the heck he was talking about....he was just telling you bogus stuff that isn't true/real. You will be on the 5th floor, in your savannah view villa in Jambo House (the original resort).

I think two of the Concierge 1BRs are HA. One (room 6202) has a roll-in shower instead of a tub/shower combo, the other (room 6205) has the tub/shower combo but is otherwise an HA room. The surprising thing is that they built two HA 1BRs rather than one 1BR and one studio. There are no HA studios on the 6th floor.

I was in the 1 bedroom lockoff HA conceirge last month, 6202 I believe. It was booked at 7 months.

I agree with this.

We stayed in 6205, a 1-BR HA with the tub/shower combo. We didn't request a HA room, but I guess it was what was available. We booked at 7 months out for a trip this past May and were shocked when they said we could have a CL room.

What about the room made it an HA 1BR? I am building a room database for Jambo House and I would like to add some info in the room comments for this room. Thanks!

I'm hoping for the mistake!!! Thanks for your help. SS

I don't want you to be disappointed, but I tried to book a 2Bdroom Concierge from Aug. 17-27 and couldn't get the 17-21 (this was booking at 10months 3 weeks out) So had to split our stay, from Savannah view then Concierge for the 22-27. And our reservation shows "2 BR L/O Concierge Jambo" - for those last 5 days.

But Good Luck anyway!! Maybe Maybe:goodvibes

The room had a very wide hallway that led to the bedroom and bathroom. The bathroom was split into a large vanity area, then the toilet and tub area again was spacious. There were assist bars by the toilet and in the tub/shower. The doors into both bathroom areas were sliding doors that would easily accomodate a wheelchair. I don't think the other rooms have theses sliding doors, but I am not sure.

The only thing, is that the sinks were at standard height, they were not lower so I can't say it was fully converted for someone in a wheelchair.

That does sound like an accessible room to me. There are two types, those with rollin showers and others with bars by the toilet and tub. Was the second half of the bathroom one largish space with the tub and toilet or was the toilet in a little separate water closet?

Here are the floor plans for the savanna facing concierge rooms. There are three 2BR lockoffs. 6205 is the one in the middle (the middle three bays). The toilet and tub are in the back half of the bathroom. The rightmost 2BR lockoff is non-HA. In that one, the toilet is in a small room, the tub is across from the vanity.

The 1BR portion of the 2BR lockoff on the left is also HA and shows a tub/shower but actually has a roll-in shower.

Thanks, Lisa. We've had that 2 BR on the left with the rollin shower.

The middle one does look like an accessible tub room. I was asking her about the placement of the tub and toilet as that's a good indication that it is accessible.

I actually think the regular one bedrooms would be rather easy to convert to accessible tub rooms. The water closet would be large enough for my daughter's power chair anyway. The high tub/shower combo would be the problem. I wonder if the tub is lower in 6205? I would hope so.

The walk in showers in Kidani bathrooms should make those units easier for those needing accessible bathrooms I think.

edited to add that the room on the left has a rollin shower in the master bathroom that it not shown on the drawing.

The second half of the bathroom was one large space with the tub and toilet together with a sliding door separating it from the sink area which also had a sliding door into the hallway.

Thanks. And I looked at my pictures from the rollin bath and there was another sliding door for the water closet which I had completely forgotten.
