I have bought 6 day Passes directly through disney, using will call so that I could link them directly to MDE. We have now decided to go to DW next summer in conjunction with a cruise so I would like to upgrade the tix to APs. I am scared to death to do it now and mess up my FPs in any way so I am thinking about doing it on my last full day this year. Does it make sense to do it that way and will it be allowed? i understand that the AP would have a begin date of the first date of use of my 6 day passes.

I'm not 100% sure of the answer to your question so I'll let someone more knowledgeable chime in (my answer would be that you should do it on day 5 to be sure), but I do want to let you know that I upgraded to an AP from a 6 day ticket last November on day 2 of entering the parks and it went very smoothly with no issues to my FP+. I asked ahead of time if it would affect them and they said no, and they were right.

Personally, I just wanted to get the AP as early in my trip as possible to get it out of the way and make sure I got it done so I'm glad it all worked smoothly.

You can wait to upgrade, but you will miss out on the shopping and dining discounts of the AP.

If you want to wait, do it on day 5, NOT day 6. As soon as you enter a park on day 6, your ticket will no longer be eligible for upgrade as the last day on the ticket will have been used.

Not quite correct. You have until the end of the last day's use of your ticket (in this case, the end of day 6) to upgrade the ticket. Basically, the day following the final use of the ticket, would be the day that upgrading is no longer allowed. But, if your ticket still has unused days on it, you have a total of 14 days to upgrade, counting from the first day's use of your ticket.

POOHsie is correct about this.

Interesting, I had always heard otherwise. Sorry for the misinformation, OP!

We upgraded from an 8 day hopper to an annual pass before we activated the hopper. On the day we arrived we went to Guest Relations at Animal Kingdom, where we happened to be on our first day, and upgraded to an AP for $255.60.

Did u lose any of your fp or dining reservations? It seems to be sporadic if people lose info or not. I'm a little too scared though would like to do it earlier to have PH option. Dreaded Disney tech problems!

I might do that too if we decide to go again next year, but I'm really afraid of losing fp+ that I have already selected! Did it work out fine for u?

Yes, we lost none of our ADRs or FR+. Everything worked out perfectly. I did bring a printout of our ADRs with the reservation numbers on little strips of paper I carried in my wallet just in case but I never needed to show them.

Another upgrade question--We have 6 day MYW park hopper w/water parks and more tickets for our Nov trip. I want to upgrade my ticket to a regular AP. Will they make me upgrade to the premium AP? I think I read that as long as I upgrade before using the extras--I can get a reg AP. However, will they only give me credit equal to a reg park hopper--or full credit that includes water parks add on?

1. Not if you don't use any of the WPF&More assists before upgrading.

2. Yup.

3. Nope. Not if you USE the ticket to go into a THEME PARK at least one time'
BEFORE upgrading.

4. The full purchase price of a NEW ticket of that kind at the Disney gate that day.

If you use the ticket for at least one regular theme park entry and do not use any of the water park and more options, your ticket will become worth $429. To then upgrade to a regular annual pass, which is $675.21, your cost should be $249.21.
