upgrading to AP

I looked through the ticket sticky but couldn't find an answer. I have a new 6-day park hopper ticket tied to my MB for my May trip. The ticket was purchased in March. I plan to upgrade to an AP. Do I need to use the ticket first or can I go to Guest Relations at DTD before I check in and have my hopper converted to an AP?

Hi Fran, I think the only time you need to use the ticket before you convert, is if you are trying to bridge a discount. If you didn't buy the ticket from a discounter like UT, then I don't think it matters.
With that said...I could be totally wrong. I know someone will come along and correct me if I am.

It was part of the package I purchased from Disney. I think it was the spring promotion with 30 or 35% off the package. Would that make a difference?

Curious as to whether tickets purchased as part of onsite Disney package can be bridged...we bought our 9-day PHs as part of the deal where you got one day free. So technically, I only paid for 8 days. So, when trying to calculate the upgrade cost, should I use the gate cost for an 8-day or a 9-day PH ticket? And do I still need to use it first?
