Upgrading to AP and a few other ticket Q's

Howdy!

So I looked over the sticky on upgrading my tickets but I want to make sure I have this straight before I pull the trigger.
We are staying offsite for a trip in April (me, Hubby, DD6, DD2). We wanted to visit the water parks too. We also booked a trip with just me and DH in August staying onsite at Poly [I might have gotten a tad carried away with vacation planning...] Anyhoo, I was planning on getting the MYW+PH+WP for DD6 and buying AP's for DH and myself. Originally I was just going to wait and purchase our AP's when we get there so we don't 'start' our passes. This whole FP+ thing has me worried about not getting to book in advance though. I am thinking if I buy 3x MYW+PH+WP we can just upgrade when we get there so that I can still book those coveted 3 FP+ rides. I don't think we would upgrade until the last day because our TA said that it might mess with our reservations if we do it at the beginning of our stay.

Does this seem like a decent way to go about this? Our annual passes would still be good until April of 2015, not say Feb 2015 (when I will buy the MYW's)? One final question- does it matter if I buy through Disney directly for MYW or another site?

Sorry if these are dumb questions. I have never done an annual pass and want to make the most of it...without screwing anything up! Also, if this is in the wrong forum I am sorry. I have been stalking this site for months and still havent figured out where all the forums are at. (Fact: I only discovered sub-forums existed yesterday. I have been reading on this site daily for months. )

1- You won't "start" anything by purchasing ahead.

2- Yes.

3- While anything is POSSIBLE, I wouldn't worry about that.
There are several AP perks that you may want DURING your trip.

4- Yes.

5- The AP's will be good for 365 days following the day that you pick up
the live AP's at WDW.

6- I'd buy from a discounter like www.undercovertourist.com and save a few dollars
on your original tickets, then that savings will "pass over to" your new AP's when you upgrade.

7- This is the right forum for ticket questions.

BTW, be sure to USE your original tickets at least one time
to enter a theme park before doing the upgrade to AP.

I was actually just coming back to find a way to delete. In further obsessive research I discovered the error of my ways. I don't know why in the world I thought they were activated at purchase?

Gees, I could have been booking all kinds of stuff for weeks now! Thanks for the reply. I will keep dumb questions to a minimum from here on out.
