Upgrading to 1 BR

I'm currently thinking about buying and decide to rent a studio unit from a DVC memeber to see if it's what I want to do. I'd like to upgrade to a 1 BR unit. Can I pay cash to upgrade from a studio or would I have to go back to the DVC owner and pay him to use more points?

You would need more points. An alternative would be to change the reservation to a 1 bedroom for as many nights as you have rented points for and pay cash for the rest of the nights. You can't have 1 night as part cash/part points, each night has to be one or the other.

You cannot just pay cash for an upgrade when you check in. Many timeshares allow this but DVC does not. I'd contact the member and see if you can change your reservation to accomodate your new plans. Good luck.
