Upgrading Tickets Already on Magic Band

Hi Everyone,
We all bought 1-day MK tickets and we have linked them to our Magic Bands. We thought we were only going to the MK so the 1-day tickets were all we bought. Now we are thinking about going to AK as well. It would save us a few dollars per person if we bought 2-day tickets rather than additional 1-day tickets to the AK. If we are upgrading to a 2-day ticket, do we have to do that in person at WDW or is there a way of doing it online. And, is there a way to take the 1-day tickets off our Magic Bands and replace them with the 2-day tickets? I hope my questions are clear. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Pre-arrival, you can only upgrade resort/ticket packages.

(If you have a room only reservation with a separate ticket, then you will have to wait)

As long as that is a standard MYW ticket, you can upgrade it at any park or DTD guest relations office.

If you paid the current, 2014 full price for the ticket, you are fine upgrading before you use it.

If you bought it at a slightly lower 2013 price, it may be a slightly better upgrade price if you use the ticket and then upgrade before you leave.

And yes, it doesn't matter if the ticket has been attached to your MDE account (for use with a Magic Band)

Your 1-day tickets are linked to your MDE account where your MagicBands are also linked.

After you enter your first park using your MagicBands, upgrade your tickets at Guest Relations. They will add the 2nd ticket entitlement to your MDE account. Your MagicBands will provide the link to the 2nd ticket when you enter the 2nd park.

The tickets are not "on" your magic band. They are in your My Disney Experience account. All the magic band does is link to the account. So when there are changes to your account, your band would pick them up when you use it.

Upgrading is a breeze. We were just there. I bought grandkids their 3 day ticket, my daughter was also there on her own trip. She decided to upgrade all the tickets to APs. The kids tickets were on my MDE and kids were with me not her. CM just asked that I send her the MB number (took photo of each) and he was able to upgrade no problems. Though the ticket is not on the MB, the MB lets the CM access the ticket easier.

Does anyone know the estimated price for adding days to a MYW Base ticket? 5 Day base with no additions--wanting to increase to a 10 Day…! Childs ticket that is already linked to a MB...

Under most conditions, that will cost $50, plus tax, per ticket.

When and from whom did you buy the original ticket?
(I'm assuming that these tickets have never been used.)

$10 per added day?! Thanks for the info! Now we can plan accordingly! :yay:

We bought the tickets originally from Undercover Tourist. My husband and I are Premier Pass members. We bought 8 adult and 6 child's tickets because our kids and grandchildren were supposed to come with us in November, 14, but ended up going by ourselves. Now we get to bring two of the little ones with us next week! Tried to sell the other tickets, but I think people were to worried about a scam so I guess we will just keep them. Would be nice to eventaly use them for ourselves or others.

OK.
Be sure to USE the tickets to go into a Theme Park at least one time BEFORE you do the upgrade.
Then, the price for the upgrade will be what I mentioned.
We were getting there at about 4:00 pm and wanted to take the girls to Downtown Disney…what would be the ramifications of not using the passes first?? Yikes!! Glad you mentioned it!!

You want to go into a THEME PARK before you upgrade.
But, there's no need to do the upgrade at DTD.

Just don't upgrade until some time during your trip.
When you have a few extra minutes at some point, go to the in-park Guest Relations and do the upgrade.
Or, do it at some time after you exit a park.
You can do the upgrade as late as ON THE SAME DAY that you use the last asset on the ticket.

Got it! We were just trying to figure out if we should go to MK that evening. I do know we have to upgrade at the park…already figured that one out. They should make it where you can other places as well.

Thank you for your help!

You CAN upgrade at other places.
Do so at any ticket booth or Guest Relations. DTD is fine. TTC is fine.
If you're not upgrading to an AP, you can even upgrade at a WDW Resort Concierge desk.

But, just do the upgrade AFTER (sometime after... minutes after, or hours after, or even days after) you have used the original tickets
-at least one time, or more than one time- to go into a theme park.

You can do the upgrade as late as ON THE SAME DAY that you use the last asset on the ticket.

Re:using a ticket before upgrading. I understand why you want yo do it. If you use a ticket a day earlier than planned, does the system immediately cancel your last day's worth of fp before you get a chance to upgrade?

Maybe.

One way to safeguard that is for YOU to cancel the FP+ on a day that will be very easy to re-book. (Like at DAK or Epcot.)

Then, as soon as you do the upgrade, rebook that day of FP+.
