Upgrading Ticketmania Tickets to AP ??

I purchased a 5 day hopper from Ticketmania and want to upgrade to an AP in April. I was reading that Disney will only apply the value Ticketmania paid for the ticket, not what I actually paid.

If you have upgraded Ticketmania tickets, how much money did Disney apply? I am trying to see if it is worth it to upgrade or to just keep the ticket and buy the AP without turning them in. I have not used the ticket yet.
