upgrading on airtran

as a surprise for my DH Im thinking of upgrading to business class for our flight on Fri

and I have a few ?S

is it cheaper to upgrade at the airport on Fri
checking the website there are plenty of seats

also in business are there luggage fees

I have a credit since our fares went down and if luggage is free I could use the credit for the upgrade

The best time to do it is when you check in 24 hours in advance - others know about the great deal of upgrading also and its not likely there will be seats left at the airport - at any rate its the same price either way.

It takes four credits to upgrade or you can pay for the upgrade.

Luggage is free - 2 pieces each.
