I have two 5Day Plus 4 Adult hoppers with 1 day and 1 plus used on them. Net, 4 Day3Plus.

I also have two child 4 Day 1Plus tickets.

I want to upgrade them all to 5 day hoppers. I won't lose my pluses if I do this, will I? Can they charge me just for the add'l day?

Bump.

I have a similar question and would be curious as to the answer.

I am not sure Disney will upgrade your tickets to something they don't even sell (the 4-day plus hoppers are not available at the gate; neither is the 5-day plus 4).My own personal experience with upgrading my 5-day plus 4 pass(unused) to a Premium annual pass was not very good. I purchased the special 5-day plus 4 at Wal-mart for @ $256, but when I went to upgrade the unused pass, I was only credited $222. The CM explained to me that $222 was what Disney sold the pass to Walmart for(now why would I even THINK that Walmart was not making a profit?!), so I should have just kept the special pass and used all 5 days and 4 plusses. Since you need 1 extra day for 4 people(2 adults/2 children), you will probably do best by purchasing 1 adult 4-day hopper, then each person in your party use 1 day from it. For example, YOU leave your 4-day plus 3 hopper in the room safe, and use the 4-day hopper the first day, then your husband do that the 2nd day, and then each of your kids the 3rd and 4th day. That way, everyone in your party has 5 days in the park. If you wanted everyone to have 2 plusses, you could purchase a 5-day hopper plus pass, and do the same thing, then let 1 child use the 2 plusses on the new pass, the other child use the 2 plusses on the 4-day hoppers, and your husband and yourself can use 2 of the 3 remaining plusses on you special passes. In the end, you will have had 5 days in the park, 2 days in a waterpark or PI, and will still have 1 plus left on each of the special passes, and 1 park day left on the new 5-day plus. Have I lost you yet? If all you need is 4 park days, the 4-day hopper is @$200 at the Disney store, AAA, ticketmania, etc. The 5-day plus will cost @$60 more. I think purchasing just the 4-day hopper would be the best idea, and if you decided to do a second water park day, purchase the kids a 1-day ticket for that(@$26 each). I hope I didn't confuse anyone other than myself!

Since your passes were 5+4 PHPs, I'm assuming that you didn't buy them directly from Disney. Disney doesn't sell a 5day PHP with 4 pluses directly to the public. I got mine last fall from Ticketmania for $259 each.

According to the allears.net website, you will only be credited for the amount that Disney charged the ticket broker for the passes and not any markup that the broker tacked on.

In addition, Disney assigns no value to the "plus" portion of your pass. The value of the passes are based on the original price of the pass and the number of park days remaining. The formula that they use for calculating the value is not clear but it comes close to
(# days remaining)X($ paid by the broker to Disney)/(# original days on the pass)

So, if you paid $259 (what I paid for mine last fall) for those passes, but Disney only sold them to the broker for $255 (a number which I've chosen only for demonstration purposes and not from personal experience) the formula would be:
4 x $255 / 5
This gives the partially-used ticket a monetary value of $204 towards the purchase of an upgrade. You would then need to pay the difference between your current ticket's value and the cost of an upgrade based on gate prices.

Still following me? It's confusing, isn't it?

The cost at the gate of an adult 5-day PHP (with 2 pluses) is $286.50. You would then pay $82.50 to upgrade that 4-day PHP with 3 pluses to a 5-day PHP with 2 pluses. Hmmmm...... IMHO it's not worth it.

The children's tickets would be a similar scenario, even if they are unused. There is no 4-day PHP sold directly to the public by Disney. The price you paid for the tickets will not be the amount credited towards the upgrade. It may not be worth it.

Since they are already used and the seven day window has gone past, the 5 day PHP's can have the dollar value of the unused major park admissions (4 days) applied to a new ticket. You will not get any dollar value for the unused plus options and yes, you will lose them. So assuming you paid around $250 for the ticket, you'll get about a $200 credit towards a new one.

Same story with the child's ticket unless they are unused. If they have not yet been used, you can upgrade them to a 5 day PH. You will be credited with the wholesale price of the ticket (Disney doesn't sell these so they had to come from a wholesaler) and charged the difference between that and the new ticket. Once again, you will lose the plus option. If those child tickets have already been used, then it's done the same way as the adult ones above.

If I were in your shoes, I wouldn't do either transaction. I'd use what I have. Remember that a plus option used at water parks saves you $30 each time you go. You have $90 worth of them on the adult tickets. That far outweighs any meager savings you would get to gain one more major park day.

Okey Doke. That's what I thought I understood from reading Deb's site, but just wanted to make sure.

I appreciate the feedback and the great idea (Mic) on the extra 4 Day! :-)
