Upgrading from PH to DVC Gold AP on blockout days

I have some unused RFID 10 Day-PH tickets from UT purchased a couple years ago. I know to use the tickets once, before upgrading to bridge the price to the current Disney price.

I am planning on going at the end of March through April and upgrade to the Gold AP as I'm a DVC member. Part of those times is Blocked Out for the Gold AP.

If I use the my 10-day PH tickets on March 31st and April 1st (both blockout days) and then upgrade to the Gold AP on April 2nd, will Disney let me do that? Or would that invalidate those PH tickets to be upgraded to a Gold AP?

As long as you're either a FL resident or a DVC member, you can upgrade to the Gold pass. It doesn't matter if you use the tickets during a block-out period before upgrading. If you encounter pushback on this from a ticketing CM, tell them to check their documentation or ask them to call a coordinator. And make sure they do the price bridging - it's a manual process, it doesn't happen automatically.

Ok thanks, hopefully it works out ok. It would be nice if there are some documentation that we have access to where we can read about upgrading passes.

Believe me, I would love to print out my ticketing documentation from work and post it verbatim online, but I like my job and don't want to get fired. :)

This surprises me! They didn't used to let you upgrade to a non WPFNM AP from a ticket that included it if you already used a water park admission.
It would seem an easy way around the system to be able to buy the gold pass and still go during the blocked out dates (as long as you use the blocked out dates first and then upgraded your ticket). My friend was contemplating which ticket to get because she may want to go over Easter next year ....

This is still true. It's one of very few circumstances where usage matters when you upgrade.

So, if my friend always goes in August and also wanted to go during Easter ... It might make sense for her to do an individual YES program this summer and then get a six day ticket for Easter, upgrading it to a gold pass before leaving the last day, to cover the following August.... Right? Does that sound like a reasonable plan?

I don't understand the timeline laid out here or the relevance of the YES program.

Well, if she gets a gold pass in August, she won't be able to use it over Easter.
So, the YES program is something we've done before because it's a good deal with the class and discounted ticket ... So that would cover August.
Then over Easter, if she got a regular ticket, she could upgrade it to a gold pass - that way she gets a gold AP that will cover Easter and that next August ....

Ah, yes very true. Thanks!

Yup, this is the reason for my question too, but I guess a Blocked Out date isn't considered an entitlement (like a WP entry would be), so I guess that's why it works.
