Hi everyone

We are long time Disneyland annual pass holders and are making our first
trip to Disney World. We are planning to upgrade our
Disneyland premium annual passes to premiere passes when we arrive in Florida (we don't live anywhere near either park). I was doing some research on fast pass plus bookings and it looks like we need an annual pass or ticket number to
complete the bookings. We are staying on site at wdw and are able to make our
fast pass plus bookings 60 days out, however we won't be upgrading to
premier passes until we travel to Disneyworld in the spring. Are we able to
use our Disneyland annual pass numbers or upgrade our Disneyland passes
to premiere passes online or over the phone? I don't know if this makes any difference but 3/7 people coming on the trip are buying tickets online to wdw and will have ticket numbers before the fp+ booking day.

Thanks

Actually, since they are Disneyland passes, you have to upgrade to the Premier pass at the Disneyland Resort ticket booths. You cannot do the upgrade at Disney World, online or over the phone.

You would also need to do the upgrade prior to your 60 day mark to be able to book FP+.

I purchased a WDW AP via phone at Disney World and upgraded to a Premier Passport at the Disneyland front gate last week. You do need to purchase the Premier passport "in person" ONLY at guest services or a ticket booth. They are very firm on that. :)

Geeze what a way to treat people who are paying over $1000 for a pass and staying onsite. I don't think that's fair. Is it possible to buy a ticket online and then apply it's value towards upgrading a premium pass to a premiere pass?

No, you can only apply one ticket towards an upgrade.

You do have to upgrade in person for a premier pass.

Yes, you can upgrade WDW passes at DL, but not DL at WDW. This is due to the fact that there is no sales tax on Disneyland tickets and there are on Disney World tickets. So Florida law doesn't allow the California passes to be upgraded at WDW or so I was told a couple of years ago. It is possible this has changed, but you will need to write and ask, so that you have the written response in hand.

I remember hearing about someone upgrading their DL pass into the premier pass. However they also mentioned that for some reason it wouldn't scan and they spent 30 min waiting for a CM to call around each day to make it work.

Stick with your DL passes. DL is better anyway.

Was your WDW AP activated/used prior to the upgrade at DL to Premier Passport?

Thank you :)

No, you won't be able to do any of this. You can't link your Disneyland pass and you won't be able to do so until after you have changed it over to a premiere pass (if you can even do that at WDW - I've heard of it being done at Disneyland but since the two computer systems are not compatible, it can be an issue) and you can't purchase a Premiere pass any way but in person.

Doesn't matter that other guests in your party have purchased tickets ahead of time. You must have a valid ticket assigned to YOU before you can reserve any FPs.

I have an AP that expires 3 days before I arrive for a trip and because I want to wait to renew it until after I get there, I won't be making any FP reservations before I arrive and get the new pass.

OP, keep the thread going and get more responses. And/or ask on the DL board.

The cost of the Premier AP is the cost; there's tax on the FL portion and no tax on the CA portion. The total is the total.

I swear I know someone who actually did upgrade a Disneyland AP to a premier pass while at WDW, but you do have to do it in person and there is an issue with the systems at each park being incompatible. Which will not help you with the FPs at 60 days because if you wait to do it in person you won't have valid park admission to WDW 60 days out.

It may have been a couple of years ago because everyone I know who did it recently did it the other way around (WDW pass upgraded to premier at Disneyland).

I just did an online chat with Disneyland and was told that I could not upgrade a WDW AP to a Premier Passport at Disneyland **if the WDW AP had not been activated yet.**

Does anyone have experience to the contrary, where you were able to upgrade a WDW AP at Disneyland prior to it being activated/used?

Another question: Does anyone know if both a Disneyland AP and a WDW Park Hopper ticket can be combined to purchase a Premier Passport in person at WDW??

Thank you :)

This is a really helpful thread, along with the ticket sticky. Apologies if I missed the answer to my question:

I currently have a Disneyland Premium AP that's expiring in two weeks. If I renew it now, I'll get a $60 discount. (Cost: $639 instead of $699)

If I later decide to upgrade to a Premier Pass, do you know if the upgrade cost will be the difference between the discounted price or the full price of the DL AP?

I'm trying to decide whether to renew now and take advantage of the discount -- or if it won't matter.

As far as I know, you cannot combine two tickets to apply to an upgrade. So you can either upgrade the DL AP or the WDW PH ticket, but you cannot apply the value of both tickets to the upgrade.

Regarding the renewal discount, I've read (I haven't done this in person) that you will be charged the difference between what you paid for your AP and the Premier AP. This is because there is no renewal discount for the Premier AP.

The three people that already have their tickets will be able to make FP+ reservations at the 60-day mark (assuming they have linked the tickets to their MDE account and they're staying onsite). It will not allow the other four individuals to make FP+ reservations.
