Upgrading at check in

can you do it
apparently my mom called WDW today trying to book a room for when we are going in Dec
apparently that was a front she wanted to upgrade us a surprise
we are at the pop right now
they told her she could not cux we had used a discount when booking our room, so my mom could not pay the difference
she would have to cancel my reservation and then rebook without the discount

but cant you upgrade at check in i have heard of people doing this saying they wanna go to a dif resort stuff like that
so can you or cant go ????

You can definitely upgrade at any time if there is availability. Sounds like your problem is with the use of a discount code though. If a room is not available with that same code, then you would have to pay rack rate. It doesn't seem like theres much of a difference between cancelling your current reservation and applying your payments to a new one, or simply updating the existing reservation and paying the difference. It comes out to the same amount, but perhaps with Disney's system, it has to go in as new. I'd try calling again and see if your mom can get a better explanation from another CM.

I've heard of quite a few people that upgrade rooms upon arrival, but I think upgrading to a different resort at that time would be a pain. You'd have to drive to the Pop, wait in line, process your upgrade and drive to the other resort where you'll stand in line again to check-in. If you're using DME, that could be a bigger pain with making sure your luggage gets to the right place.

It's possible depending on availability, but as Tammi said it'd probably be a royal pain to do. I'd rather do the "upgrade" to a different resort before arriving so you know where you're going to stay and have only 1 check-in to go through. Plus this way you are guaranteed the resort you really want, rather than taking your chances upon arrival.

well i called to and asked this am and they said it was cuz of the code
if we wanted to upgrade to say CB a mod we have never stayed at it would over 800 more
right now we paid 1539 for out room at pop tickets plus dining plan with the code we saved around 350 i think
she said i would have to cancel my reservation and rebook with no code and the same package at CB would be like 230o
it was a nice thought by my parents but i would rather them give the kids disney dollars im fone with the pop
and ds6 really wants to stay there so...
