Upgrading an Annual Pass before you use it?

I screwed up (sort of). My daughter and I booked a weekend trip for May 21-24, 2021 and bought seasonal APs to get the room discount. With the travel rules/guidelines changing daily, we decided to move the trip up, to get it in before our 90 days post-vaccine date. So forgetting about the black-out dates, I rebooked our trip for April 10-13,2021. April 10 is a black-out date. Can I upgrade the passes to preferred before we go, or do I do that when we get there. Will we lose the extra 3 months if we upgrade after 3/31? I'm assuming upgrading is my best option - I looked at one park one day tickets and it's more expensive than upgrading the annual pass.

Thanks!

When you upgrade, you can only upgrade to something that is available. So, if you upgraded you would lose the extra 3 months

This is one of those situations where it would have been better to actually just purchase tickets and upgrade them once you got there. You could have used your tickets on the first day and upgraded them when you were leaving to the seasonal pass.

I wonder if the AP office would let you just change your seasonal APs to tickets (which you would upgrade after your first day) so you wouldn't have to pay the extra for preferred APs.

I don’t think buying tickets and upgrading to AP would work here because OP wants to get the 15-month AP, which has to be purchased by the end of March. Of course, it’s possible UO might continue the promotion into April (or have a different one), but there’s no guarantee.

It is a $90 difference between an seasonal and preferred. OP would be saving about $75 with a free 3 months on the seasonal. So it might be financially prudent to see if they could just switch to tickets and then upgrade them if the preferred is just going to be a waste of their money, unless they would never renew those passes and that three months is going to get them a trip and then they wouldn't go back again after that.

The Annual Pass ticket line is awesome. Explain your whole situation and they may have a different solution for you.

Does anyone have a phone #, besides the general customer service #? That has been busy every time I call. Thanks!

The last time I called I was on hold for almost 2 hours. I hope you get a shorter wait. Service was great once it was my turn.

Just curious, what is the 90 days post vaccine issue?
I wondered this too. From what I could find it has to do with not being required to quarantine. Anyone with a better understanding, please feel free to correct me.

Yes, currently NYS has a 90 day post vaccine rule in place that you don't have to test or quarantine when returning to NYS. I believe it's supposed to change to no travel restrictions on 4/1. My husband and i were both fully vaccinated when we traveled to Florida the beginning of March - the Governor stated, at a press conference, that fully vaccinated peope would not need to follow travel guidelines. But, the rule never made it to the State health department guidelines - so we did test in Orlando prior to return and then test again on day 4 of return to test out of quarantine. I just figure it's easier to go with what is currently in place, in case it doesn't get changed prior to our trip.
