Looking for advice re: upgrading park passes to hoppers.

I spoke to two different CMs today and they gave me different advice, so now I'm thoroughly confused.

My question was...

On 5 day park tickets, can I upgrade to hoppers after we have used some of the days on them?

One CM said yes, as long as it was within 14 days of first use (which is what it looks like on the website)

but one said no, that they would have to be upgraded before we used them.

I'm regretting not getting hoppers, but don't think I'll know until we are there if it's really necessary for us. We have 5 days. Our kids are 12 and 15, so I'm thinking 3 days in DL and 2 in DCA.

Help!
Thank you :)

Yes you can but you’ll pay the same amount no matter when you upgrade so best to do it at the beginning. (Fwiw don’t spend anymore time on phone CMs, they are notoriously inaccurate and it literally doesn’t matter what they say because the only thing that actually matters is what the CM in the ticket booth at DL says.)

ETA: I haven’t done this exact upgrade myself, just seen others report on it. Maybe someone will chime in who has done this recently!

Thank you for the reply - that makes more sense, I should have just asked on her rather than wasting my time on the phone! I sometimes feel badly asking questions because I feel that I should be able to find them on my own... but then 45 minutes on the phone passes and I get the answer on here in 2 minutes and I realize I should just ask here to begin with!

If you are planning on getting MaxPass, then I would seriously consider upgrading to park hoppers from the beginning of your trip. Park hopping will allow you to get the most out of MP since you'll be able to get FPs for one park while you're still in the other park. And once you see how close the two parks are to each other (just the length of a football field apart -- more like one big park than two separate ones), hopping will seem like a totally natural idea. The pp is correct in saying that the price won't change no matter when you upgrade, so it makes the most sense to upgrade right at the beginning of your trip since waiting saves you no money.

Don’t ever feel bad asking here!! We’re a pretty nice bunch :)

Definitely upgrade to a park hopper at the start of your trip.....you can't go wrong! Your kids will be wanting to do their favorites over and over, and the hopper will allow that; and allow so much (appreciated) flexibility!

I have never upgraded to PH before - where do you do that? Can a hotel do it? any ticket booth? Guest services? And am I able to do that the night before I want to start using my tickets? Appreciate any logistical advice!

You can upgrade your tickets at the ticket booths. The night before you start your park days is a good time -- the lines won't be as long. At least one booth should stay open until an hour after park closing.
