I'm staying at the CBR in September. In my guide books it says to throw caution to the wind and ask if there is any possibility of an upgrade at Disney hotels when you check in. Being British I'm a bit worried about being so abrupt!! Do you think its worth doing this or should I not in case the staff think i'm being rude?
Also the trip is for my 21st birthday although I won't actually celebrate it when I'm there because I couldn't afford peak rates! (My actual birthday is the 21st August) I was still planning to celebrate one of the days of my holiday as my birthday and was wondering should I tell the CBR and restaurants we have priority booking at before I leave or when I get there?
Sorry if this thread became a bit complicated I wrote it as I thought it!

If you don't ask the answer is always "no". Give it a try what's the worst thing that could happen......you wind up with what you paid for.

When we were there last Oct, we were upgraded to a preferred location without even asking. I really didn't see the difference, except it was a LITTLE closer to the food court. If you're not spending a lot of time at the resort, I didn't think it would really matter. In any case, you'll enjoy it no matter where you are. Happy Birthday!

Happy almost birthday....I agree with the others...ask nicely...sure can't hurt. The good news is...the upgrades at CBR aren't anything really spectacular...all the rooms are the same...you might get a room slightly closer to the central area...so if you don't get an upgrade you haven't lost much.

I would pick a day during your trip to be your birthday celebration day....then pick up a "today's my birthday" button from guest services of the park you enter that AM and wear it proudly....everyone will tell you happy BD all day....it is fun. You might not expect any spectacular perks...but it is always fun to be the birthday girl!!

i have a question about the bday button...ive read about that before, but like madgem, im actually going to be travelling a month after my bday. i woud hate to "cheat" and try to get a button when its not the actual date of my bday..would they even give me a button if im celebrating a month later than my actual bday?? :confused3

We were there in March for my nieces 3rd birthday. Our first day at MK was her actual birthday, so we got her a button. The rest of the time we were there we still got her a button at each park we visited, because we were still celebrating her birthday. They don't ask for proof, so I don't see the harm in asking for a button if you're there celebrating a birthday.

I was worried about celebrating our DD's birthday because we'll be there 2 weeks after her real birthday but many people told us not to worry about that. No one asks for proof of your birthday and anyone can celebrate their birthday on any day they want to. Still not sure if she'll want to get the Birthday Pin (she doesn't like too much attention) but we're taking her to CRT to celebrate.

As far as asking for upgrades, I say go ahead and ask. I also feel weird asking but if you don't ask you might not get it. Just ask nicely and if the answer is no just keep smiling.

The most that can happen is the answer is no. :Pinkbounc
