I was just wondering if anyone who booked their cruise using DVC points has ever received an upgrade. Just a bit hopeful on my part.

3 cruises on points. Never an upgrade... They assign you your cabin when you book & we've never had it change.

It does happen, but not very often.

The points that show for cruising, is that a per person point value or is it based on two adults?

TIA

Points are per person.

I'm sailing Saturday on points - no call or FedEx yet with news of an upgrade. This is number 6 for us (the second using points). I am hoping for some pixie dust at check in. If I never recieve an upgrade it's really okay, I am just so grateful to be sailing.

Bon Voyage,
Dawn Hope

Thanks Andy!

Have some calculating to do!LOL

Scratch you can pay half points half cash, we did that for two cruises, one all points and two all cash...
btw..no upgrades here either, I really think it is much less common than people think it is.

If you book using points, can you pay cash for an upgrade at Port?

Yes, you can pay for an upgrade at the port even if you book on points. We cruised on points in Jan '03 and booked a cat. 6 room. We arrived at the port early and asked if any cash upgrades were available. The CM checked us in then sent us to the end of the desk. We then went to a different line (almost no wait) where another CM told us what cabins were available and for how much. We were able to upgrade to a cat. 3 suite for a reasonable price, significantly less than the original cost difference of the two categories. We found that once we arrived at the port there was no difference between our points reservation and cash.

Lots of good information came back to me. I will consider doing the cash upgrade at the port, but I think I like being on deck 5. We are Cat 8, so there's not anyway to go up and stay on that deck. We plan on using the club/lab a great deal, so deck 5's the closest! Thanks again!

Actually there is, we were in cabin 5130 on deck five two years ago....that is a cat. 6
