You will love it! It was not on my list of resorts I was dying to stay at, but there was a conference there last year, and since it was paid for my bff forever and I stayed there. We loved it! The food court was great, balcony wonderful, location awesome, and beds luxurious!

Oh my gosh, that is an AMAZING upgrade, wow! I've never heard of such an upgrade, lucky you!!! The CR is walking distance to the Magic Kingdom, the only resort that IS! which is a great way to beat the crowds. and of course you also have the monorail.

The rooms will be almost 200 square feet larger than Pop, you'll have a fridge for free, and two queens (pop has double beds) plus a day bed too.

You are going to love it!!! yay for you!!!!

Wow...I just put in for a week starting 8/15-8/21, out of curiosity about what was available for 2 adults. Did not specify a resort...came up NOTHING is available at 26 resorts. Got the "We did not find any rooms available at Walt Disney World® Deluxe Resorts for the dates you specified. (We checked a few other Resorts as well.) Please change your travel dates or your Resort selection and try again. "

I switched it to 8/15-8/21, same message. Tried 8/18-8/24, Same message.
Starting on 8/19, deluxe studio at Saratoga Springs for $1991 room only was all that came up.

And all of that checking was at the regular rack-rates, not on specials, discounts, etc.

To all of you who have reservations that first week of free dining...Good LUCK! Plan wisely, the hotels are full.

Aug. 19th. I'm just nervous because I've been planning for so many months and now everything I thought I knew is out the window. POP was so colorful and so Disney I'm a bit nervous this won't be. I'm not complaining- just nervous. Can I still book a bounceback for next year at POP if I'm staying at CR? (if they offer one). Do they have a good foodcourt? Any info would be great because I'm starting all over with my research. So excited though!!!

You have got to be kidding....Pop rooms are like little closets piled on top of each other and dont get me started on the Horrible Bus lines and screaming tweens at all hours of the night....Contemp rooms are the NICEST ON PROPERTY PERIOD.....Stayed here for my company annual reward meeting a few years back you'll love it

Too cool. I've read of people getting phone calls and being upgraded from values to moderates when the values were overbooked - but value to deluxe - sweet.
After you've tooled around on the monorail to MK and Epcot (you need to catch the resort monorail in the Contemporary to the TTC, switch monorails there for the Epcot monorail BTW,) you can always grab a bus from any of the parks to POP and check it out for next years trip.

thanks- you are all making me really excited! I heard of upgrades to Old Key west and Saratoga(?) but not this which was really wierd. They left a message to call them back and my daughter goes- maybe it's a upgrade. And I was thinking the only way I would be tempted is if it was to CR. I was all set to say no. Then she said CR and I just about fainted. I know it sounds wierd to even consider staying at POP but I was really looking forward to it. But this is to good to be true. We are not on the dining plan (maybe that's why we were picked). But thanks for the input.What does the deluxe give that the others don't? Did you say the beds are softer? Any other little perks? Shampoo different? I'm really curious about the little things. Thanks again!!!!!

, congrats on the upgrade! As for the shampoo, deluxe s have the H2o aquatics line and it has shower gel and lotion and smells great!

All I can say is WOW!!!

I just checked my messages and apparently Disney is not offering to change my room at POP from August 9-13 to the Contemporary.

That is so fabulous. We are also looking forward to our first stay at POP but I could afford Pop another time... who knows when I'll be able to afford the Contemporary.

Congratulations!!! You have been upgraded to our favorite resort!!! Besides being on the monorail, the beds are heavenly, the rooms are huge, and the staff are amazing. You are gonna have such a great trip!!!

I've never heard of Disney calling a guest before a trip to upgrade them.

I think I'm still in shock! I don't know when it will really hit me- my mind is still going a mile a minute! I did go to the Disney website- but I find ppl on this forum to much better at decribing things and giving tips. Thanks so much.

don't try the disney website for info on this... you'll find much better info here and other websites (just google wdw info or contemporary info/pics, etc).

try to watch the fireworks from the tower's observation areas one night - we've always had tower rooms mk view there and watched from our balcony, so I haven't tried the observation areas, but I believe you can go out the doors on the ends of the tower (use the one closest to the MK obviously), and the higher up you can go, the better. But there might be one main one to use... maybe someone else can chime in on that.

The fast food area is great for a deluxe - not the same set up and selection as a value, so don't be disappointed... but I believe you'll find enough to satisfy you. We loved it (we were there this past april).

There's a transportation boat that does a triangle from CR to the Wilderness Lodge to Ft. Wilderness, and back to the CR (it doesn't go to the MK). It's a nice ride if you wanted to go to WL or the Fort for any reason (hoop de do review is always fun!) It's out back behind the pool area by the marina. And oh yeah, Sammy Duvalls watersports is at the marina... my dh and ds9 have parasailed twice now from there - they say it's AMAZING! (dh's always looking for gators in Bay Lake below him - in case the rope breaks! )

The laundry area is only in the garden wing (I find it so weird they haven't put one in the tower), so you'll be close to it if you need it.

The pool area is great - lots of loungers and tables, hammocks on the beach, nice grassy lawn area, large pool so it never feels too crowded.

Enjoy - once you go deluxe, it's hard to go back to anything else, so beware!

Wow, that is major Congrats on this upgrade. Probably a once in a life time opportunity. Contemporary for the price of a value! Wow! I would be in shock too! Enjoy your trip!

YES YES YES!! this is a great upgrade. We stayed in the garden view wing last year (got upgraded from standard view) and absolutely loved it!!! We were only steps to the pool which is great if you have kids also. Try to request a patio which is also great so you can sit outside and have a bit of extra room to move about with your grandson. Nothing beats the monorail line.
