We were staying at POP but just got a phone call to upgrade to Contemporary Garden view. I was so so excited for POP because we are checking it out for next year to see if that's where we want to stay next year with our grandson. Has anyone ever stayed at the Contemporary? The highest we've been to is CBR. Is this good???? Of course I said yes because oppurtunities NEVER come along like this!! Any input for me???

You'll have queen beds instead of double, a MUCH larger room, a fridge in the room. You'll be within walking distance of MK and right on the monorail for Epcot. Plus you'll have the option of room service if you want. You'll also be very close to visit Poly, Grand Floridian or Wilderness Lodge. What a fantastic upgrade! Congratulations!

The contemporary is the first resort I stayed in. I'm dating myself but they only had CR and POLY at that time. We stayed there several times before trying a MOD. You will love being on the monorail. Enjoy!!!

Aug. 19th. I'm just nervous because I've been planning for so many months and now everything I thought I knew is out the window. POP was so colorful and so Disney I'm a bit nervous this won't be. I'm not complaining- just nervous. Can I still book a bounceback for next year at POP if I'm staying at CR? (if they offer one). Do they have a good foodcourt? Any info would be great because I'm starting all over with my research. So excited though!!!

The ease of the monorail and walking distance to MK alone are worth the upgrade. CR doesn't have a giant food court but they really don't need it because there aren't a million people trying to fill their mugs at the same time. CR is also very Disney but in a Deluxe way, not in the over the top cartoony Value Resort way. Do some research on CR and go with an open mind. You'll probably love it. I would jump on this opportunity and not look back, but that's just me.

BTW, I've stayed at CR 3 times and Pop 6 or 7 times. We usually go Value Resort these days because we've done most of the Deluxe's and the extra expense isn't necessary anymore. Enjoy Disney's Contemporary Resort. I hope I get so lucky.

I think I'm still in shock! I don't know when it will really hit me- my mind is still going a mile a minute! I did go to the Disney website- but I find ppl on this forum to much better at decribing things and giving tips. Thanks so much.

and NO CONTEST! Even in the Garden Wing, it's a short walk to the monorail area and off you go! Or you can just walk to MK if you want. Much better rooms. And yes, there is a counter service restaurant there (Contempo Cafe) as well as several table service restaurants.

Anytime you're feeling the CR is not "enough Disney" just go over by Chef Mickey's, the shops & the Arcade. You'll feel Disneyfied, lol

And go up to the 4th floor observation deck & take a gander at the view: the Magic Kingdom - unbelievably close.

That upgrade is worth about $200 a night...

Did you have free dining at POP? If so, did they tell you that your dining plan is upgraded too, since the deluxe resorts get the regular "plus dining" plan with one counter service, one table service & one snack? Cuz if you had free Counter service, and now have free regular dining plan, you better get on line & get you some table service reservations.

Congratulations! The Contemporary is an awesome resort!!! We're checking into the POP on the 20th. I hoping for an upgrade. We stayed at the Polynesian last year but since we're traveling with friends, we've decided on POP. I'll called today to upgrade to a Moderate...but it seems that they're all booked. Keeping my figures crossed for some pixie dust too. Enjoy your trip, monorail resorts are awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

IF they are doing a bounce back offer this year, there should be a flyer/card/brochure in the room. If they follow previous year's patterns and you are in a deluxe room, the offer in the room will look like you can only book at moderate or a deluxe...the brochures we saw in the mods only mentioned mods, deluxe & villas. When we stayed at Pop for Free Dining 2 years ago, it only mentioned values & mods on the flyer, but when I called the bounceback number they said there's no restrictions, you can book up, down, or the same as long as they still have promotional rooms available.

Second, even if there is no flyer in the room, check at the front desk...ask if there is supposed to be a bounce back offer in the room (sometimes people take the card with them, or housekeeping puts it in an out of the way place...or forgets to put the card in your room)

No guarantees that there will be a bounce back, but always worth checking into, because the savings are usually substantial.
