Upgrade to Concierge at Check-in?

I was one of those who always hoped for a free upgrade and never was lucky enough to get one. So this past August on the FTP, we stayed Yacht Club Concierge and absolutely loved it! We are now hooked on the concierge experience. I would say that if you really want to try concierge, just pay for it. We want to stay concierge again on our next trip, so we increased our monthly vacation savings to accomodate it. It will be worth it!

Polynesian is now upselling at the front desk to concierge so give it a try. I don't think it is a permanent thing. I believe they are just trying it out to see how it works. I would never take the chance though given that the Concierge at the Polynesian is typically fully occupied especially now that they'll be heading back to Hawaii where the building is much smaller than Tahiti.

Wow, with all thes free and/or negotiable priced concierge upgrades, I really feeling the big money I'm paying for my concierge room.

Aisling, much of the benefits of booking concierge comes before you get there with the personal itinerary planning... etc

Guests who upgrade at the counter miss all that.

I do a lot of planning in advance and usually arrange for stuff in the room etc... don't feel bad about booking in advance ~ you don't want to leave it to chance, what if there is nothing available when you check in or they want you to pay rack rate?

Aisling..I also don't know if you saw my post on a recent attempted to upgrade at AKL...look above...It was $215 additional at check in from savannah to conceirge. With AP rates it is only $75 more a nite. I guess at WL and Poly the upgrade at check in maybe cheaper BUT if you have your heart set on AKL it is definately better to do it ahead of time not at check in! Plus they are still paying about $50/nite....I think it is worth the peace of mind to pay the $25.00 extra per nite!
