Upgrade to an AP?

I know you can upgrade 5 day PHP into 7 days, etc. But I haven't seen anything on whether you can upgrade a PH into an AP. Anyone know if/how you do this?

DH and I are taking DS 21mo and DD 3 1/2 for a week at the end of the month. We were originally planning on just getting 5 day PH's, but then DH threw out the idea of getting APs and coming back possibly this fall and definitely next year before they expire. While I love the idea of going back, I'd feel much better committing after we see how the 14 1/2 hour car ride goes and how the kids take to the crowds, etc.

Of course, we'd plan our trip a lot differently with the APs, as we'd probably visit the parks a little each day rather than "all out" for 4 or 5 days of the week. Hmmmm...

How you do it and what it will cost you depends on whether they are already used or not.

If the PH ticket is brand new and unused, the amount you paid for it will be completely credited toward the AP. You will then pay only the difference between what you paid for the PH and what the cost of the AP is. Your AP will then run one year from the day you do the upgrade.

If the upgrade takes place within the first 7 days of use, then the entire amount you paid for the PH will still be credited towards the AP but the expiration date of the AP will be backdated to the first day you used the PH ticket.

If you have used some of the days and the 7 day window has passed, you will receive a prorated credit for the unused days based on what you paid for the ticket. Example: 5 day PH - you paid $250. You have three unused days. You would get a credit of $150 (all dollar figures hypothetical).

No matter which category you fall into, the upgrade has to be done at a Guest Relations window at any of the major parks or at either of the two GR offices at DTD.

Thanks for the explanation! I think we'll opt for PHs and then if all goes well the first day, make the upgrade.

I "upgraded" our UPHs to APs on our last trip. I just had to pay the difference(which on 3 adults and 1 child came to $60). You need to know that the APs will be dated from the day that the UPs began and NOT the date that you upgrade.
