My family of 3 are staying at the Pop for 14 nights with FD. I am trying to figure out if we should upgrade our QS dining plan or not. We usually have 1 TS per day. In the past we upgraded our FD but Now that our Child is an "adult" I am not sure if it is the most cost effective route for us.

We are vegetarians so our meals are never the most expensive on the menu. We will have 2 buffets total at Boma and Crystal palace. We will be off Disney property and will probably not have TS meals for 4 days.
When you take away the cost of the CS meals is it more cost effective to pay OOP for the TS meals and keep the QS FD?

The upgrade is going to cost you about $20 per person per day. You've got an awful lot of variables in there; off-site, vegetarian, some buffets, three adults. I think you'll have to do the math yourself.

I too usually upgrade to the 1ts 1qs plan, but now with the fastpass system being what it is, I am not going to risk the waits to be seated, and miss my fp window! We have ressies at Tusker house and Boma, and will pay oop. BTW, the Disney Visa gives you 10% discount at Boma, if you carry that card.

Have a great trip!

It sounds like me that upgrading wouldn't benefit you at all. If you want to do a table service or two, I'd pay for them.

Price it out, for us we are staying 12 nights, 3 people, 2 adults one child, upgrading would cost $481.00. My son only asked for 2 TS meals and I am fine with QS so it did not make sense to upgrade, nad put out extra $$ in tips for meals we didn't really want. We will probably spend $100-150 for our 2 TS with tip, so much cheaper to keep the QSDP for us. I was able to go into my reservation and use the modify reservation to get the exact pricing differences before making any final decisions.

I agree for us to upgrade for 14 nights it is 850.00. We prefer the QSDP because we only do about 3 ts meals. We are doing t-Rex because we have 2 days RO before our package begins. We have CP Breakfest, Via Napoli and Hollywood and vine lunch. I figure it will be about 300.00 for those meals. Plus don't forget tips for us that would be additional 400-500.

If I am reading this correctly you're saying that you plan on purchasing 1 table service per day. Is this correct? If so then it is probably worth you upgrading to the Disney Dining Plan. In your situation you would have a lot of quick service meals (28 per person) and still be paying out of pocket for your additional 10 table service meals. It's an average of $20/person/day to upgrade to the DDP. For 14 nights that is approx. $840 to upgrade your dining to the DDP.

If you plan on eating 10 table service (14 nights minus the 4 days you say you won't have table service meals) you would have a budget of $84 per table service meal for the 3 of you so $28/person.

I'd recommend looking at the menus of some of the places you want to dine and see what you believe it would cost you. Take into consideration if you want a drink and/or dessert with those meals.

The downside to upgrading to the DDP is that you will only have 14 QS meals rather than the 28 you currently have if you keep the current QS plan and pay OOP for your table service meals. Another part of the equation is do you think you will eat 3 full meals each day? When we travel to Disney my DD and I get the DDP and still find that we have QS credits left at the end that we share with people in line around us.
