upgrade or miles plus money???

by the time my 11 month window is open we should have enough miles to buy two upgrades to premium economy... yeah....the trouble is there are two adults and two children. My understanding is they only allow upgrades to adult flight tickets, so do you think it would best to buy two childrens premium and two adult economys and upgrade those( would VA let us do that?) or just do miles plus money...has anyone else had this scenorio...We have never flown premium economy before...thankyou for any advice

I'd be a wary of the M+M deals, sometimes they are good value, sometimes the saving are so little its not worth it.

Hard to say unless you have the M+M price to compare.
Probably depends on what you want to spend on the travel.

Personally I don't think PE is good value for money on the MCO route, might be OK with the upgrade as you suggest but it depends on the overall delta cost from economy.

Others will disagree about PE, it's what you think is good value for money and what you could do with the savings compared to the benefits.

If you could provide some figures it might make the choice a bit easier.

We have had great M&M prices, economy £290 easter school hols etc. but this past few months has not been great. In an 18 month period we saved over £3,500, just not good recently.
For August I have used miles for a outbound free flight BMI to return, and for Xmas booked VH package, hope next year they try more for M&M customers.

PE is something I can never see me paying for, very happy with economy seats, better things to spend money on, we are lucky we sleep around 7 hour out of 8 in economy. Like Jakey says others will only fly PE.
