A question for all you experienced cruisers. How much would it cost to upgrade from an inside cabin (cat11) to any balcony cabin (cat7+) during check in for a 7day or longer cruise at the port? Any ideas? TIA

Hi last August we upgraded from a cat 11 to cat 5 at the port for approx $650. We were on a 7 day Eastern.

:thumbsup2

Pick the cabin you will be happy in.....and keep fingers crossed for upgrade!

I plan on upgrading at the port for the EB Trans.....don't think it will be full. But, if it is we will be happy with our inside deck 7 aft cabin.

I agree... It's nice just being on the ship, but an inexpensive upgrade can add to the fun!!!

Thanks for the responses.

In Oct on a 7 day... We were Cat 12 (given cat 9 room), but paid at port $800 for an upgrade to Cat 6. The supervisor said we would have to pay from our paid for cat to the new catagory.

So seems like what others have posted of approx. $600-700 does see about right for that type of upgrade.

Just a heads up - in August our ship was fairly full - I was second on line for the day to get an upgrade, and there were none available except for Cat 3 and up! We still had a great time in steerage!

What are the chances someone knows the price to upgrade from cat 6 to cat 3 for a 7nt cruise ?!

Same here, I wanted to know what the price to upgrade at pier of a Cat 6 to Cat 3 on a 4 night cruise.

We did a port upgrade on our Christmas cruise on the Magic. Here are the prices I was given.

Cat 12 to Cat 6 - $800
Cat 12 to Cat 5 - $900
Cat 12 to Cat 4 - $1350

Cat 9 to Cat 6 - $440
Cat 9 to Cat 5 - $540
Cat 9 to Cat 4 - $990

Hope that helps!
Leslie

That is the same we were quoted for Cat 9 to 4 on our Dec 5 Eastern. We declined. Now, had a 6 been available and at the above quote, we probably would have taken it.

Same question, different ship.

Does anyone have an idea of how much it would cost to upgrade from an inside cabin (cat11) to any balcony cabin (cat7+) on a 4 night Wonder cruise?

Are these upgrades good discounts??? On average is it a percentage discount at the port like %15?? How do you know if its a good deal??

Port upgrades are a set $ amount per sailing and are from a category to a category and it doesn't matter how many people are sailing in the cabin, the price is the same to upgrade for 2 people as for 5 people (as long as the cabin holds that many people).

To know if it's a good deal or not is to price out that cabin you would want to upgrade to and compare that to what you have booked and then if there are upgrades available at the port you will know what the difference would have been prior to arriving at the port. But it is usually much, much cheaper to upgrade at the port, if available.

Now I assume that if the price of a port upgrade goes up from a 3-4 night to a 7 night, the same holds true for an even longer cruise.

Does anyone have any experience with a port upgrade on a longer than 7 night cruise? Does it cost dramatically more?

Has anyone upgraded at the port for any of the Panama Canal cruises? And if so, how much?

We upgraded at the port on the EBTA 14-night cruise from a 12GTY to a Cat9 Deck 2 for $460. It was the last "room with a view" available and happened to be exactly the upgrade I wanted. I figured that was a savings of over $1100. FYI I got in line around 11am, after checking in at the airport and taking Disney transportation.;)
