What is the point of the countdown again?

While hunting for the above mentioned thread I came across a post that said people who ordered the upgraded magic bands at discount and then later cancelled their reservation were in turn charged full price for the bands. Not sure if this is true or not but if so it gives me a good chuckle.
Similar to folks who were staying off site would make a resort reservation only to get the 60 day fast pass window, then cancel their resort. Disney caught on and now cancels the fast passes made.

Well, I guess I’m getting a grey band. I ordered the Black Panther for my hubs and the Olaf band for myself. My confirmation email only showed the Black Panther one going through. My credit card was only charged for one. The CM I spoke to told me they can’t do anything. She said I should explain what happened to the hotel upon arrival and maybe they can do something. What a bummer!

They dont ship until November, Im not taking any from someone going now or soon...maybe theyve fixed their issues,but the email says we will receive 10 days before the trip.

My email also said they would deliver 10 days before my vacation, but they arrived in less than a week from when I ordered, from everything I have seen these bands are shipped right away within a couple days from ordering. I expect you will receive an email with shipping information soon.

We had something similar happen. DD5’s Ariel band went through but not DD7’s Mickey Birthday band...luckily she’s being a good sport about it, but I really hope she’s not stuck with a gray band. I wish I had the option to cancel the one band now, because I’d rather have 2 plain bands than one kid with the band they want and one that gets a plain band...

The number Disney displays on MDE saying you have XX number of days left, is only for guaranteed delivery by mail. I think you can actually order them up until like 5 or 6 days before arrival date and they will be waiting for you at the front desk of your hotel when you check in. You can call Disney to confirm. I think my order date was 6/7. I ended up ordering on 6/21 and I got them in the mail on 6/26. Our check in date is mid-July. Once the number count down goes away from your screen, it will still allow you to customize, up until the actual and final cut off date which is much closer to your check in date.

It’s actually 11 days before your trip.

So once again this morning it’s back to the dwarves. I keep trying and trying and constantly get the errors. I keep telling myself I’m going to stop trying but yet I continually do daily. I’m only trying for 1 since it’s a solo trip and just not working. I fill in all my payment info and then get retry/dismiss. Calling and emailing does nothing to help either. Oh well I still have 45 days to try *sigh*. Maybe in 9 mths they will fix it and let me order like it took them 9 mths to find a pic that I emailed about from last September.

Well...it says I have 3 days left to pick. I was trying to get 4 for our family, but trying to have 4 available at the same time that everyone wants is nearly impossible...and if they show up as available, at least 1 of them isn't 'really' available. I'll try on/off for the next 3 days and then just let it be...if nothing else it'll save me $40, lol. We'll see if they're still doing this a year from now when we go as a family again...of course by then they'll cost $20 each...

Unfortunately, it seems like it defaults to the grey band. I found this whole thing frustrating and I really wish they would let you check out one at a time (especially since it’s been really awful trying to check out with multiples). It’s crazy to me that the CMs can’t do anything to fix it.

I didn’t want to buy a new band at full price so I just went on Etsy and bought myself a cute magic band skin. They have these really cute Minnie Mouse decals with her bow (pic included).

Lack of availability is not your fault, Disney did this. They knew this was going to be popular, people have been asking for this for YEARS. They shouldn't have rolled this out without a good stock of premium MBs. They also should have had a cut off so that only people going within the next 4 months (randomly chosen) are able to choose bands and others would wait until that window. They also should lock MBs in for each person, once selected, or allowed each person to select and order a premium MB independent of the rest of the party so that people weren't having to play these silly games with inventory in order to find the perfect time where the system magically had a premium band that each member of a party liked simultaneously. Instead, Disney decided to roll this out in the most absurd way possible, and now, here we are.

We have skins from Etsy and from another reputable seller with an online store as well and have been very happy with them. I think that’s a great way to go instead of buying full priced bands and rewarding Disney for this torture (lol... )

We normally skin from that seller in the UK. This year bought the premium ones and got burned early. We did get a promo code and was able to order the right ones from shop disney. It all worked out but probably get the skins from now on
