UPDT:IMAGINEER LUNCH Can't believe I ate the whole thing! How do I spell relief? DXDP

Enjoying your report so far. Glad to finally see a picture of the Pho at Yak & Yeti. I love Vermacelli Noodles when I got to Vietnamese restaurants. The Pho is similiar (just with lots of broth instead of just a little). Now I know that that is exactly what I want when I go there. Yummy!

I had the amazing short rib at JIKO last year and totally agree it is one of the best dishes I've ever had.:thumbsup2

Thank you for the great reviews so far! We will be trying Yak and Yeti and Jiko for the first time in a few weeks. My dear friend, TigerKat, (I see she is already reading your reviews ;) ) suggested the short rib to me and it looks fabulous!!!

BTW, I love the pics of the two of you that you have posted...

I, too, am a very sarcastic blonde! ;) :thumbsup2

Thanks again!

Loving your reviews! :thumbsup2

We're trying Yak & Yeti this trip and I was thinking about the steak & shrimp dish. I like my steak well done, and those shrimp look delish!!!

Can't do Jiko with my kids, so we're trying Boma for dinner one night.

We're also trying out the DxDDP this trip, did you ever consider ordering room service for breakfast - just to use up credits? :confused3 Just an idea. That's our plan should we have any over by the end of the week. 2 ts per person.

Can't wait for the next restaurant popcorn::

We purposely planned a lot of 2 TS meals. But we also planned on doing quite a few Spoodles breakfasts since we were staying at BWV. Unfortunately, Adam and I both like to sleep :) so we decided to forgo breakfasts most days.

oooh I can't wait to try Jiko!!!!! I want the steak with the mac and cheese lol.

I am enjoying reading your reviews! Jiko sounds awesome, we will be going in Jan. I can't wait to read more of your reviews!!

Disclaimer: The following reviews are all from Thursday October 2nd. We took no pictures this day because Boma is a buffet, ESPN club was unplanned and LTT is a family style meal. I will however review the food and service we had there :)

BOMA - Breakfast
Our reservation was at 10:10am. We arrived to find a pretty empty restaurant. The host seated us towards the back of the restaurant near the windows. Our server. Karen, came and took our drink order. Adam had the "mixed juice" drink. It consisted of pineapple, guava, etc. I had the standard orange juice.

I'm a simple girl when it comes to breakfast. I had scrambled eggs (good), toast (yummy), bacon (I didn't like the bacon...had an odd smoked flavor and it was not crispy at all). See, all simple things :) Overall, I much preferred it to the only TS breakfast we had during our last trip, which was Crystal Palace. Unfortunately, I think that WDW is lacking when it comes to breakfast meals. There is one exception to that which I will get to later on...

Having dined at Boma for dinner many times before, I was eager to try some of the breakfast fare at Disney's most popular character-free buffet. To my disappointment, there was little unique about this breakfast buffet. Your standard fruit and cereals all make an appearance, as well as some nice pastries. One nice touch is the option of a "jungle juice" beverage, a combination of some more exotic juices, which I found a nice alternative to a tangy orange juice or a super sweet apple juice. The big winner here was the quinoa, which is a great alternative to oatmeal, especially with a variety of dry toppings like cinnamon. I was a little miffed to find the breakfast potatoes were missing their afritude, but that's just a personal choice, and my distaste for bland roasted things. If you're dead set on having breakfast, you could do a lot worse than Boma, but if you're only planning one meal there, choose dinner.

ESPN CLUB - Lunch
Never been here before, but we weren't having dinner until 7pm and went there out of convenience. It's right on the Boardwalk and we were staying at BWV...you can see the logic ;) Neither Adam nor myself had high expectations of the place.

We walked in and waited a few minutes to be seated despite the fact that they were pretty slow at about 3pm. We were seated and our server Aaron came to greet us. He was very nice and social. Kept calling us "team" - which I'm sure is something that all ESPN servers are supposed to do.

If you like sports, there are about...40 TVs in there? Just an estimate. Gives you something to do. I personally like sports - for the most part - so I didn't mind.

Since we were on the dining plan, we still did 3 courses for lunch. I started with Dingers, which are basically just like the boneless wings you could get at Buffalo Wild Wings. Got them with the medium sauce, which was the mildest. They were still fairly spicy for my taste. I ate half of them. When Aaron saw this, he offered to bring me a whole new plate of Dingers plain. I declined, but it was nice of him. My entree was a Triple Play Turkey and Brie Sandwich and it was awesome! Seriously, I loved this thing. I loved it so much that we made a late night stop there a few nights later and I picked one up. Its turkey, brie, arugula and cranberry mayonnaise on multigrain bread. Even though I had no room for dessert, I did dessert...I'm such a trooper, I know. I chose the Rocky Road cake. I'm a sucker for chocolate and marshmallows. Large portion and tasty.

The chili has a solid flavor, not overwhelmingly tomato, not very spicy. The portion is quite large, so light eaters could make a full meal out of it. The server recommended Mahi Mahi sandwich came blackened, but was relatively bland before application of the side of spicy tartar sauce. Decent overall, but not anything special (particaularly compared to the next day's meal). As for dessert, I sampled the brand new Banana Cream Pie which was nothing short of delicious, despite my inability to remember the other main ingredient (I'll change it if I remember). My strawberry banana smoothie was nondescript and had no traces of real fruit.

Liberty Tree Tavern - Dinner

If you've been to the Magic Kingdom, then you have probably eaten here :) That's the reason we didn't take any pictures of food. And we don't really need to tell you what is served there. What I can tell you is that the food was decent and the characters were humorous. Service was fine. It was the night of MNSSHP so we just wanted to get in and out.

Since our last post was devoid of food pictures, I'll treat you all to the next picture filled installment!

CORAL REEF - Lunch

This was our all day Epcot day. It was really great staying at BWV because we could walk to Epcot. Very short walk, though we did take the boat back at the end of the day.

Honestly, we did eat at Coral Reef because I wanted to sit by the aquarium :lovestruc . Our reservation was at 11am and apparently, they also OPEN at 11am. We waited with a few other families in the lobby area. I really like the tile work and all the blue. When we were finally seated, we sat in the second tier to the right. We had a very good view of the tank. I was glad we didn't sit right against the tank because we had a view of the entire aquarium. The server's name was Scott and while he was attentive at first, he soon ignored us a for a bigger table :(

My first course was the Creamy Lobster Bisque.
Price - $7.99

DSC01955.jpg

I love this sort of thing. I'm the person who loves clam chowder. If it's creamy and delicious, it's right up my alley. It had small chunks of lobster and had a nice seafood flavor. Adam had a taste of it and thought it was rather bland. But he eats super spicy food all the time, so I'm beginning to think that his tastebuds are shot :confused3

Adam's appetizer was the Sea and Land. It's two skewers: one with grilled shrimp served on cucumber salad and a barbecued beef skewer with creamy polenta.
Price - $11.99

The shrimp on this dish were both overcooked, and also underseasoned (read: not seasoned at all). The beef was cooked so long that I actually broke the stick trying to get it off. The fact that the skewer was swathed in a loose ketchup mixed with brown sugar (called "barbecue sauce" by the restaurant) didn't help matters. Definitely a must skip, especially for the price.

I was a little unsure of what entree I wanted but I finally decided on the Pan-seared Tilapia that comes with a white and green bean salad and a tomato vinaigrette.
Price - $20.99

The tilapia had a good, mild flavor. I found the dish to be average though. Nothing about it particularly wowed me. My green beans were crisp and I don't eat white beans, so :) With Coral Reef being somewhat of a "seafood" restaurant, I was hoping for something more. But what are you going to do?

Adam chose a somewhat odd choice, or at least to me it seemed that way. He had the Barbecued Salmon Sandwich. Its served with housemade BBQ sauce, pepperjack cheese and has a side of potato salad.
Price - $16.99

(And I apologize for the dark picture. The flash apparently wasn't on.)

This dish was actually a pleasant surprise. The very same barbecue sauce which was terrible on the beef skewer in the Sea and Land somehow worked surprisingly well with the pepper jack cheese on this open faced sandwich. Knife and fork are required for this one, but it's well worth the effort. The vinaigrette on the greens was a nice touch that brings the whole thing together. One bite of the potatoes was enough for me.

They didn't have the key lime pie anymore so I settled on the Mango Sorbet. Has a pressed Seahorse cookie on top and a bit of tropical fruit in the cup as well.
Price - $7.99

I will keep this brief. It tasted like someone took the juice from a fruit cocktail cup, froze it and then molded it into a ball. I was not pleased.

Adam chose the very popular Chocolate Wave.
Price - $7.99

Looks much better than it tastes. The purported warm liquid center was decidedly not liquid, nor was it particularly warm. I've seen this dessert done a thousand times, usually better than this.

OMG my BIL said the same thing about the bacon at BOMA....I thought it tasted fine though.

I love Coral reef!!! Everything looked yummy!

Adam thought the bacon tasted fine too, but he's Jewish and doesn't normally eat pork so I don't think I can take his opinion too seriously :rotfl: I love bacon. I wanted to like it, I really did!

HAHA I just think it's funny that my BIL thought the same thing.

mmmm chocolate! thank goodness the girls are meeting up for desert tonight or i would have had to hit the ice cream stash!
