UPDT:IMAGINEER LUNCH Can't believe I ate the whole thing! How do I spell relief? DXDP

WOW! What a Citricos review. I am beginning to question our Narcoossee's ressie. Wondering now if we should try Citricos. The pics are gorgeous. That dessert! What a presentation. Thanks so much for your reviews!

First I gotta say that you two are so cute!

Second, thanks for the Citrico's, looks like I will add that one in for 2009!

Thank you! Citricos is definitely worth adding to your last :)

I agree with Nicki, you guys are a beautiful couple!:goodvibes

I think I'm putting Citricos at the top of my list for '09. That bone-in steak is calling my name....:thumbsup2

Thank you too! The bone-in ribeye was amazing and I can highly recommend it!

Yes, the presentations were gorgeous. We thought about changing our Citricos reservation to Narcoosees, but I'm glad we stuck with Citricos.

Yum is right, it was delicious! :woohoo:

GREAT food report! I had the wonton dessert and loved it! Evidently I like cream cheese and didn't know it. :rotfl2: Excellent pictures!!! Subbing right now...

CHEFS de FRANCE - Lunch

We didn't have breakfast again this day because we had an 11am reservation at Chefs de France. Since they don't open until 11, we watched the France movie and then waited in their outdoor seating area for a few minutes before we were called in.

The seating was very bistro style. Small tables, packed in tight, row upon row. But with all the windows (due to the two atrium seating areas), it is very bright during the day. We were seated right against the window with a view of the World Showcase lagoon. Our server was a very young French man named Adrian. He seemed very unsure of himself and unsure of his English. We watched him and the other servers and he seemed much more insecure than his more mature co-workers. I'm going to assume he was new. He was nice though.

My first course was the Tartare de Saumon. This is basically a salmon crudo dish served with cucumber, tomato, dill and a honey mustard sauce on the plate.
Price - $9.95

Yum, yum, yum! I really enjoyed this salmon crudo. Granted, you have to have a taste for smoked salmon, crudo dishes or like sushi to enjoy this. I know for a fact that this is something my parents would never touch! The salmon has a wonderful smoked flavor and was presented chilled. It was topped with crispy cucumber and both cucumber and salmon were minced in texture. The sauce on the plate was honey mustard and a sort of tomato sauce. Really complemented the fish. I did not leave a scrap on the plate. :thumbsup2

Adam's appetizer was the Assiette de fromages de France
which was an assorted cheese platter served with a mixed greens salad and walnuts.
Price - $8.95

My first instinct was that for a cheese plate, this was huge, especially for $9. Upon further tasting though, it appeared that the reason the plate was so large and cheap was because the cheese itself was so generic. I sincerely doubt any of these were artisinal cheeses. Not only that, but I was disappointed that the plate wasn't served with any type of bread or toast, particularly with the inclusion of camembert. The accompanying greens were pretty nice as were the grapes and walnuts. In the end, if you can get over the fact that the cheeses are nothing special and if you don't require any bread with your cheese, you'll enjoy this, especially at the price.

I chose a very standard French lunch dish...the Croque Monsieur et sa salade verte. It is essentially a buttery grilled ham and cheese sandwich served with a mixed greens salad.
Price - $13.95

This wasn't my first time have a croque monsieur, so I had something to base this one on. To me, the bread was overly buttery - and I love butter. It didn't necessarily detract from the taste though. The bread was crispy, the ham salty and the cheese melty ;) The salad was fairly average...just some greens and tomatoes thrown in a vinaigrette. Overally, it was a decent lunch dish. I wasn't looking for anything more adventurous at the time, so it served it's purpose.

Adam's entree was the Plat de Cote de boeuf au cabernet avec pates. This dish is a short rib served with noodles, mushrooms and onions with a cabernet sauce.
Price - $19.95

What I expected and what I received were light years apart. My general experience with French food, particularly proteins, is a lightly sauced, well seasoned dish where the flavors of the ingredients are the main attraction. What I got was a short rib that spent 20 minutes in a pressure cooker thrown on about 4 ounces of the thickest beef gravy I've ever seen and garnished with pearl onions and half a box of Creamette fettucine and some chives. You get a lot of food, but after all that cheese and the general disappointment, I was ready to move on. I ate half of this and that was enough for me.

When I saw Profiteroles au chocolat on the dessert menu, I had to have that. They are small puff pasty sandwiches filled with vanilla ice cream and topped with chocolate sauce.
Price - $7.25

These lived up to my expectations...I love profiteroles! My only qualm with this dish (and also Adam's dessert) was that it was DROWNING in chocolate sauce (Adam's was swimming in caramel sauce). It's not that it ruined the dessert or anything, but it took away from the fluffiness of the pastry and the yummy vanilla ice cream. I'd still give it a thumbs up though.

Adam, after seeing they no longer offered the Blueberry Clafoutis he'd been talking about ordering for weeks, settled (begrudgingly) on the Crepe a la pomme et cannelle, glace vanille, caramel jus de pommes, or more simply put, an apple cinnamon crepe served with vanilla ice cream and caramel sauce.
Price - $7.25

Too much sauce for me, and not nearly enough cinnamon to warrant putting it second in the title. This was a mushy, gooey mess, and to compare it to a real french crepe would be like comparing a Big Wheel to a Mercedes. I've heard a couple people praise it, so somebody must like this, but I certainly didn't.

Decor - 7/10
Food - 7/10
Service - 6/10

When we order something that comes with a sauce, doesnt matter what it is, we order it on the side so we can control how much or little we want....works out perfect! I sound like Meg Ryan in When Harry Met Sally but it still works for me!

Honestly, it has never been a problem before. And I still enjoyed my dessert, but honestly, I think they overdid it on Adam's dessert. :confused3

I loved your Citrico's review, esp the last 3 pictures. :goodvibes

I leave for DW in 6 days and we are doing DXDP... We have 3 separate meals planned almost everyday so it will be interesting to see how much food we can actually consume! Keep the reports coming!

Yeah...you'll get stuffed :) That's why it's a good idea to do 2 TS credit meals.

I am really enjoying the His & Her reviews coming from the actual parties (as opposed to one person writing both opinions!)

As petite as the two of you are I cant IMAGINE where in the HECK you put ALL THIS FOOD! :lmao: I would have gained 20 pounds from what you reviewed so far. Heck, I think I may have gained 5 from just reading and checking out the food porn. :rotfl2:

One more thing I want to know, when you all were at Chefs did you try to PRONOUNCE what you ate or did you read the decriptions and POINT at what you ordered? Cause if you tried to PRONOUNCE them this is me to you :worship: . I have never been good at other lang. (heck I need to learn to SPELL English as it is! LOL!) Somewhat related (tho about Spanish not French) I tell my Spanish speaking patients that I know the only phrase I need to when going to Mexico "Uno Mas tequilla Parfavor (spell?)". No matter how sick my patients seem to be that always gets a smile! :rotfl: It seemed that Chefs went for Quantity rather than Quality at least on your bf's food. That cheese plate DID LOOK impressive, too bad it wasnt much better than Velveeta and string cheese. And in the FRENCH place? COME ON? :snooty:

Cant wait to read the rest. I have rambled enough now! :flower3:

Well, Adam is very good at pronouncing French words. As for me, I knew how to pronounce "Profiteroles", "Tartare de Saumon" and "Croque Monsieur"...the rest of the description of the food in French I wouldn't have been able to pronounce as well.

Don't worry, I heard plenty of other tables either ordering in English or butchering French ;)

As for the portion sizes, it was misleading, he thought he was getting a lot of good food at a good price, when really he was just getting a lot of average food. Mine was delicious though :thumbsup2

And I have to let Adam write his own reviews, otherwise he'd be over my shoulder nitpicking at what I was writing about his food!

More great reviews! :thumbsup2

I agree, it looks like if you plan on doing 2TS restaurants, the Deluxe plan would be a great value. That Citricos meal made the Wave meal free!

Keep up the good work!

Great thread - just subscribing.

Great reports. We are heading down soon and are also on the Deluxe Plan. We'll be hitting alot of the same places too.
Keep it coming......from a fellow Chicagoan!!!
Did you feel like you were eating all the time on the plan?
Marc

I made the mistake of ordering this without realizing it was filled with cream cheese  so I will say that the pineapples and the sauce were very good, as was the ice cream (but how do you mess up vanilla ice cream?) But if you love cream cheese filled things, you'll love this! ;)

I love cream cheese filled things! I must try this dessert! The noodle bowl looks great too - I love noodle bowls - and the spicier the better!

Ok, I'm off to finish reading the rest of your reviews! Great reviews so far! :thumbsup2

Loving your reviews! I was also excited to see your Citrico's review! We always dine at Narcoossee's and love it there, but we always want to try Citrico's but end up never getting there. This coming trip we don't have room for it, but on our trip after that, I am going to make it a priority!
