Since our last post was devoid of food pictures, I'll treat you all to the next picture filled installment!
CORAL REEF - Lunch
This was our all day Epcot day. It was really great staying at BWV because we could walk to Epcot. Very short walk, though we did take the boat back at the end of the day.
Honestly, we did eat at Coral Reef because I wanted to sit by the aquarium

. Our reservation was at 11am and apparently, they also OPEN at 11am. We waited with a few other families in the lobby area. I really like the tile work and all the blue. When we were finally seated, we sat in the second tier to the right. We had a very good view of the tank. I was glad we didn't sit right against the tank because we had a view of the entire aquarium. The server's name was Scott and while he was attentive at first, he soon ignored us a for a bigger table
My first course was the
Creamy Lobster Bisque.
Price - $7.99
I love this sort of thing. I'm the person who loves clam chowder. If it's creamy and delicious, it's right up my alley. It had small chunks of lobster and had a nice seafood flavor. Adam had a taste of it and thought it was rather bland. But he eats super spicy food all the time, so I'm beginning to think that his tastebuds are shot
Adam's appetizer was the
Sea and Land. It's two skewers: one with grilled shrimp served on cucumber salad and a barbecued beef skewer with creamy polenta.
Price - $11.99
The shrimp on this dish were both overcooked, and also underseasoned (read: not seasoned at all). The beef was cooked so long that I actually broke the stick trying to get it off. The fact that the skewer was swathed in a loose ketchup mixed with brown sugar (called "barbecue sauce" by the restaurant) didn't help matters. Definitely a must skip, especially for the price.
I was a little unsure of what entree I wanted but I finally decided on the
Pan-seared Tilapia that comes with a white and green bean salad and a tomato vinaigrette.
Price - $20.99
The tilapia had a good, mild flavor. I found the dish to be average though. Nothing about it particularly wowed me. My green beans were crisp and I don't eat white beans, so
With Coral Reef being somewhat of a "seafood" restaurant, I was hoping for something more. But what are you going to do?
Adam chose a somewhat odd choice, or at least to me it seemed that way. He had the
Barbecued Salmon Sandwich. Its served with housemade BBQ sauce, pepperjack cheese and has a side of potato salad.
Price - $16.99
(And I apologize for the dark picture. The flash apparently wasn't on.)
This dish was actually a pleasant surprise. The very same barbecue sauce which was terrible on the beef skewer in the Sea and Land somehow worked surprisingly well with the pepper jack cheese on this open faced sandwich. Knife and fork are required for this one, but it's well worth the effort. The vinaigrette on the greens was a nice touch that brings the whole thing together. One bite of the potatoes was enough for me.
They didn't have the key lime pie anymore so I settled on the
Mango Sorbet. Has a pressed Seahorse cookie on top and a bit of tropical fruit in the cup as well.
Price - $7.99
I will keep this brief. It tasted like someone took the juice from a fruit cocktail cup, froze it and then molded it into a ball. I was not pleased.
Adam chose the very popular
Chocolate Wave.
Price - $7.99
Looks much better than it tastes. The purported warm liquid center was decidedly not liquid, nor was it particularly warm. I've seen this dessert done a thousand times, usually better than this.
