The system clearly has some flaws. I agree with a prior post that we shouldn't fully judge it until it has had some time to work out the kinks. I just returned from our second trip using FP+ and have these thoughts:
1. The old system was better from a guest's perspective. If you were visiting the park for only one day and were staying off-site you had a shot at getting on several good rides - especially if you got to the park early. The rewards were there for anyone willing to make the effort.
2. The current system requires those same single day off-site visitors to create a
MDE ID and then get FPs. Gone is the reward for getting there early. Many guests are likely to find this whole process very confusing.
3. We were far less efficient in both Epcot and MK during our last visit. On days where you are dealing with heavier crowds, being able to acquire FPs and alter plans on the fly was better than scheduling your day.
4. There are a lot of people asking for feedback in the park. They want this to succeed and become the gold standard. Venting will not improve things, but a lot of the smart ideas people have in here will.
5. The app is useful for changing plans on the fly, but still a little clunky. Being able to change both a ride AND time at the same time would go a long way in improving flexibility. Currently the only way to do it is to first change EITHER the ride or time, then change the other.
6. We are likely to see more FPs available to Disney hotel guests. I think a tiered scale may be in the works...
