UPDATED: Tip Board Working!! - New MDE App Update with Genie

Have any other Canadians downloaded the updated app today? If so, are you able to get it to work properly? I've downloaded it 3 times so far and am still unable to see the Tip Board with wait times, etc that everyone is talking about.

Starting to wonder if it's a CAN/US thing?

Updated Oct 27th - I can see the tip board this morning!! Yay!

I don't think it's working. I do hope that it does soon though, I'm at Disney starting Monday. Not too happy with how the wait times are looking today. Hopefully it settles over the next few days. I do not want to have to pay all that extra money.
 
I will be watching and taking notes on how to make the most of this. At least we are not going until February. You can bet I'll be watching all the influncers and videos of tips and tricks. I'll also be stocking the discussion boards as well.

Which park are you looking at? I was looking at MK around 10:30 and per Touring Plans the wait times looked great. Hopefully what you're seeing is Disney's seemingly current inflation of wait times and not reality.
 
It appears the problem with the app might be due the border closure! ;)

Are there any Canadians who are currently in Canada that can get the Tip Page to work properly? Like many things the Canadian version of the app may be different than the US which might be causing the problems.

I was looking at Hollywood Studios since that's where we will be in a week :) I did get the update to load, but the Tips don't work, hopefully just a glitch of some sort and that'll be working soon. Could be a Canada thing. It took ages to see the update in the Google Store though, it finally let me actually update and then I was able to load the new version of the app, but no Tips board.

I got the prompt to update the App this morning and I can see everything but the Tip Board. Do you have to be there to see it ? Or even in the country maybe? iPhone vs Android issue maybe ? ( I have an Iphone with most recent OS ). Just throwing out a few ideas .
 
Think it's a Canadian thing as people in the US are able to view it just fine.

Thanks for your input everyone. Working on a new Genie thread for the TPAS board and the lack of the tip board is throwing it an additional challenge.

Hope they fix it for Canadians soon!
 
I've just tried connecting to the 'Tip Board' from a Florida based VPN and it doesn't work, but the 'My Day' tab works
 
This is really frustrating for Canadians. Someone on another board said that they got the tip board to work when the used a VPN on their phone.

I'm that someone. The only way I got the tip board to work is if I connect a VPN to fake a US location.

Thanks for posting! I'm not familiar with how VPN's work on cell phones. Is it expensive to get? I hope this problem will be fixed, so that we can use them in Canada.
 
I have the SurfShark VPN... Not that expensive. At lot of youtuber have them as sponsor and you could get a great rebate by using their link. I have it as an app on my phone. So I just launch the app, click on a US location and voila... But I hope that Disney fixes it soon because it's another hoop to jump through and I assume that like you most of the Disney crowd isn't that familiar with VPNs.

I had G+ yesterday for free from D23 and wasn't able to get anything to work (Canadian)....CM couldn't make any selections within my account either. I don't know if it will be different if we are actually in the US at the time but it was quite frustrating.

Were you in the parks or in Canada? I really think the app is geoblock like Netflix

U.K. has the same issue. This is what a CM said on online chat today.

We are so sorry for the difficulty. We are aware that the Top Tips functionality is not working for UK guests. This has been reported and escalated to our technical team to fix. At this time, we do not know when this will be fixed but we hope it will be soon. We do encourage to keep checking the app.

I was in Canada so wasn't too concerned. I just hope it doesn't carry over at all. There will be times when we're flying in that I would like to be able to make G+ selections for when we arrive.
 
I got it working with a VPN from ontario. Going to be a whole new way to tour. Not going til (hopefully) March so keeping an eye on this. I usually don't stay onsite so am interested in how long the ILL$ passes last for ROTR. So far offsite guests have time to make some; rumors is Disney drops more passes at park open for offsite guests.

But it seems the overall crowds are still pretty slow so I don't think we're getting a true indication of how this shakes out.

Plus disney can manipulate numbers of ILL$ available at any time.
 
I have been watching quite a few Youtube videos about how it works.

Touring plans have had a coupe interesting ones comparing their "touring plans" vs Genie/Gennie+/Lightening Lanes. I seen others that have had great success with it...others not so much.

It will interesting to see how this all plays out.

I/We are probably going to do the Genie+ as well as purchase some of the rides. It will only by dh and I going to the parks, no park hopping, and only doing HS and MK. So I want to make the most out of those days, because for right now, we don't know when we will return again. And the cost is relatively low because there are only 2 of us.
