Nada. Never really been drawn to the GF, it's my least favorite of the 4 MK resorts from a theming standpoint.

How many packages of Kool-aid will one GFV point buy?

Zero, out of my price range.

I'm not even sure that I want to use my SSR points to stay there given how high the point chart is.

Agree. They are absolutely gorgeous but we are point misers. We are hoping to get OKW at the 7 mo booking window to conserve points (and we all love it there:love:) maybe some day DH and I will stay a few nights in a studio, but the points for a 2 bedroom are way too much for us.

Have it drawn up as four 50 point contracts! Each kid gets one contract and the estate can sell the 4th or rotate it amongst the kids!

Lol! Well, drawing up 2 100 point Poly contracts would give us 4 100 point contracts. BLT, AKV, Poly, Poly. The kids would each get 100 points at a MK resort. We're keeping AKV all to ourselves!

Flawed poll since there is no choice for "zero".

I apologize and wish I could go back and change this thread to read IF YOU ARE BUYING POINTS, how many will you buy?

Oh well. Thanks to everyone for their input thus far. I truly did not expect so many responses!

Another zero here. We like our OKW & BWVs and would probably consider adding on if we were in the market. At some point in time we will probably want to stay at the VGF but will wait until all the "newness" subsides. Agree with DVCMike that the logistics for us don't make it as attractive.

0. Not in the budget. Some day I'll hopefully have the chance to book a couple nights at the 7 month window just to try it out. :)

I agree:

Out of curiosity, I did a quick and dirty check vs. my home resort of AKV for Magic Season - a week in a standard 1 BR at GFV is 268 pts vs 181 at AKV (or something like that - don't recall the exact #s now) - almost a 50% difference ...

So, in a sense, the "effective cost" of GFV could be over $200 per point relative to some of the other DVC resorts ...

Had this question been asked at the beginning of sales at any of the DVC resorts, the overwhelming response would be "0". So a "0" button on the poll isn't going to tell us all that much regarding interest in VGF.

Having said that, I'll buy "0" points at VGF.

We bought 50.. Its just me & DH, no worry About space. It's going to be our "go to " resort for our anniversary!!

Just pointing out another idea and option

Her other option is buying BWV for about $75 per point resale. That is really the way to go in this economy.

And DW just saw the pictures of VGF and was blown away. She loves BCV but this is a totally different and elegant atmosphere. She just never liked the snobs we ran into at GF but I pointed out that the DVC members adding on stay at BWV, BCV, etc... so they are not any different than the friendly people we run into now. But if it were not for colleges expenses we are facing, at $145 per point, I will wait till resale.

But did the OP say it was about establishing the interest in VGF or simply how many points you would buy (for those who are)?

To me it is quite obvious that the majority of people who own DVC will not add on and I am more interested in how many points those who are purchasing, are going for. Which is what I believe the OP's objective was in the first place. That does not make it a skewed poll. It makes it what it is!

I wouldn't apologize, SEVERAL responded they are buying points.....it just seems like it"s been the nay-Sayers that bothered to respond, mostly in a negative manner.

Don't sweat it. I'm glad you didn't change the poll, though. ;) It's because people have to always point out how dumb they think someone else is for spending money on something they think is a waste.

No, not flawed. It's for the people who are. It's really simple. If you're not buying any, there was really no need for any of you to respond. But thanks for your input.

I don't know, but when I find out, I'm sending them all to you, cause I know how much you love them.

We will be buying 0. We have a Feb UY and it looks like if we bought we would not "get" any points until Feb 2014. Completely unfair IMO.

VGF is beautiful and it's really hard to resist the hype right now. In reality we would much rather buy almost triple the points at SSR or OKW with the possibility of a loaded contract for the same price. We will just have to be content with our 310 BLT and 160 BCV points......for now. ;)

How is this "unfair"? The resort didn't exist. You want them to give you something that didn't exist? Where do you draw the line? Why not give out 2012 points as well? It didn't exist then either.

ETA... it's surprising to me to see someone let the 50 years of future use not affect their decision, but the fact that you don't get points "right now!!" be the deciding factor.

The price is just too high for me. I know I didn't pay a *lot* less for BLT & AKV, but $145 good only if I buy NOW? $150 in a few weeks? No thanks DVD.

I don't think anyone else is dumb for buying. It's just not the right choice for me at the present time. I bought my initial purchase direct. I had no idea about the resale market. Now, resale points are "less valuable" than direct. I would only buy them if they were incredibly discounted, which sometimes you do get an incredible price past rofr. That would be my choice. Others are completely unfazed by the new limitations on resale points.

And that I can respect. It's the people, granted the few not the majority, that post with the holier than thou attitude that just make me :rolleyes2

Point taken. If you are 20 or 30 and you have 50 years to enjoy your membership........but if you older, like we are, you may need to enjoy those points "right now!!". Besides, how many 20/30 year olds are going to be able to afford to buy this resort at this premium price? I'll bet the average VGF buyer is 45 or older.

It appears that April UY is the earliest they are selling right now and the resort still doesn't exist to occupy. Not a huge difference between February and April. For people like us with a Feb UY it's like buying a stripped resale contract. Pay now and not get points until 2014.

We most likely won't buy any at this time....however, I did the calculations and 40 points would be sufficient for us to stay there every 2 1/2 years in a 1 bdrm for 3 nights (we usually stay 3 or 4 nights) during early January, which is one of the timeframes we usually travel to WDW....the others being F & W Festival, F & G Festival, and sometimes early December. As we near retirement, we most likely will do most of our "southern" travel during January and February (hopefully for most of both months!). Maybe not all of that travel will be staying onsite WDW though. We own points at both VWL and SSR and will probably try to book a reservation at VGF sometime within the next year (before it's sold out and we can't get a reservation).
