I need some suggestions….
I have 200 in Discover cash back money built up . I am looking for a work around to purchase Disney gift cards with this . Any suggestions?
You have two options:
Deposit any amount into your bank account or apply to your Discover bill as a statement credit.

I would take the money and purchase Disney gift cards with it and use a cashback portal with hopes it pays out!

Discover Q 2 - 5% CB: Wholesale Clubs

I'm kind of new to this so, sorry if this is a dumb question. What would be the benefit to buying a $200 MC? I don't see how this is a money maker? What piece am I missing?

Many of us have Chase Ink cards that get 5% at office supply stores. So, buying these means you can get yourself that 5% anywhere that can take them. Since 2% is the best most of us get for non-category spending, the 5% is a nice bonus. (For me, I can pay my kids' dance, camp, school lunch fees that would otherwise be only 2%.) Assuming you don't get better than 2% at wholesale clubs, using these to then buy DGC at BJs allows you to stack the wholesale club discount with the 5% earnings for even better discounts than doing either alone.

Plus, Ink recently had a really great elevated sign up bonus, so many of us are working towards 6k spend.
Also sometimes a credit card will give you a credit if you spend a certain amount or over at a specific store. In this case say AMEX has a "Spend $200 at Staples and get a $20 statement credit." In the end you are saving 10% and can use that card to buy a Disney GC or as the @TheOneWithTheTriplets said use it to buy other things.

Correct however with Amex Offers, you need to be careful as they're more prone to claw back. Amex is not one to like gift card purchases with their offers.

In addition, I *think* you can then use this card to buy DGC's (I've never done it so someone PLEASE correct me if I'm wrong!) through somewhere like RetailMeNot (Best Buy or ShopDisney) and earn a 4-5% rebate..

I do both!! I buy the Mastercard when they are on sale with no activation fee and ours has little lollypops at the checkout so that it will not be the exact $200 to avoid AMEX a reason to claw it back.

Then I use that $200 GC to purchase a Disney one either at Sam's (around 4% additional savings) or when Kroger is doing 4x fuel points to be able to save $0.80 off a gallon. We will end up saving more this way at $28 off 35 gallons (we bring both cars and fill at the same time) and I'm using my Sam's Mastercard to get another 5% back on gas. :)

Really not any workarounds.

Discover is very straight forward to redeem as a statement credit (Does not count towards minimum payment if you are person that keeps a balance) or direct deposit into your bank as @FoxC63 mentioned.

I cash mine out to a high interest savings account as soon as it posts to each account as discover is not giving you any interest.
We don't spend any of that $600 (2 cards) and just keep it for emergencies. Disney GC Sales count as emergencies for me though :rotfl2:

I find Discover usually has categories that are easy to hit the $1,500 per Quarter maximum for our family.

Again as @FoxC63 mentioned warehouse clubs are @ 5% for Quarter 2 on April 1 so if you have a Sam's Club account or BJ's account you can buy them for a discount plus receive 5% back.

As a data point, I have always had Amex Offers credit buying gift cards. Amex doesn't like buying gift cards to meet the Sign Up Bonus. They also don't like manufactured spending.

So frustrating! :(

Capital One Shopping Portal Removes Select Redemption Options

Capital One Shopping portal removed the following gift card redemption options: Walmart, Safeway, Bed Bath & Beyond, Petco. They’ve added a few new brands, such as CVS, SiriusXM, and few others.

The portal does not allow directly cashing out rewards; we need to purchase a gift card. Walmart and Safeway were probably the most commonly used cash out options. They do have many more top brand redemption options (direct link), such as Home Depot, Lowe’s, eBay, Kohl’s, Nike, etc.

If you have a Capital One credit card, it’s a good idea to check if the Capital One Offers within your bank login have the same offer since those rewards get cashed out as a statement credit. They often have similar – or even better – rates to the Capital One Shopping portal.

This is annoying when purchases were already made with those gift cards in mind. Sigh.

Not my experience, it was an offer and they clawed it back.
To be totally transparent, that's all I buy with their offers. Delta Amex

@DisneyaholicRaquel I hope you're following along. If you have any questions, please post. We're not here to judge you or anyone else, all we want to do is help! :grouphug:

They don't have Disney gift card redemption, but if Rainforest Cafe is a destination for a Disney visit, you can redeem for a Rainforest Cafe gift card at 10% discount (45 for $50 gift card) with many denominations you can choose from starting at $25. They also have many other gift cards you can redeem in the portal for anywhere between 5% to 15% discount. I counted over 100 stores/restaurants and for many they allow you to choose between gift cards or e-certificates.

Best Buy Online:

  • Buy $500 Delta Gift Card & Get $75 Best Buy Gift Card

I stopped in my local Best Buy store this evening and found the physical $500 gift cards and they rang up with the free $75 gift card FYI! I had a purchase to make at BB so I used it immediately after, the cashier thought I was so smart haha.

I missed the costco one and sam's had it for $450 online earlier so I grabbed that one.

I don't know if I can't wait until 4/1 for the extra 5% from discover but I'm gonna risk it even though with my luck they will sell out of this :(
I know!! I bought 3 , I wish I could wait but it was too good to miss in case they sell out
