Speaking of illnesses, Sherlock is a little down. Not eating his meals or skipping breakfast or dinner, so he's back to momma's wholesome cooking goodness. I processed 4 whole chickens and made a lot of bone broth without onions.
Boil then simmered drumsticks and thighs for 30 minutes with scraps of carrots, celery, garlic, fresh parsley and astragalus root. While that was going on I roasted the entire back, neck and wings 400° for 30 minutes.
After the simmer, I removed the meat, cut it in chunks and set aside, covered. Put the bones back in the pot and added the roasted parts and simmered for 12-24 hours.

Liquid gold perfection!
I make bone broth for my family and our pups.
The chunks get added to each 16oz jar.
For the pups I recommend watering it down 1:1 ratio and for the family, sauté onions with a little bit of chicken fat then add the bone broth, heat & serve.

I've got four more chickens to process and I'm just getting started.
