In spite of all the posts with people having issues with Walmart cancelling e-gift cards I stupidly thought, oh no it won't happen to me. Wrong.
The purchase went through and within minutes I got a cancellation email, due to unusual activity. Say what?
I called them immediately and they are investigating it further and will get back to me.

Here's my problem. I used a Chase 10% off offer. I already got an email from Chase saying I used my offer. The charge from Walmart is pending but also shows a refund of the purchase amount. Has anyone had any luck negotiating this with Chase so they will allow me to use the offer on another purchase once Walmart resolves this. I fear they will say I already used it so tough darts (paraphrasing of course).

If anyone has had this experience I so would appreciate any advice. Many thanks.

I need help from admins. I tried to move this post from the general budget forum to the gift card thread. I clearly don't know what I'm doing. It posted here twice with some strange links above it. Would someone clean up my mess? I'm embarrassed.

Please check your RMN accounts today. Mine and a number of my family members’ were suspended on account of alleged fraud. All the recent purchases were reclassified as ineligible. I‘ve sent in requests for each account to ask it to be reconsidered, but it is unclear how this will play out. While I know none of the purchases were fraudulent, clearly RMN’s software has been in overdrive.
I know you mentioned "a number of family members." I remember there were mass RMN shutdowns when cash back was offered in store if the same credit card was swiped on multiple accounts. Were you using the same ShopDisney account? Laptop/IP address? Credit card? IDK if it was purchasing GCs rather than violating the one account terms?

You should be fine since the gift card charge will never post. I've been using my Walmart offers on regular merchandise after attempting GCs a few times. The Walmart Chase offer terms claim it can be in multiple orders so if you never maxed it out (which you couldn't have since the order was cancelled) you can keep using it.

I'm not sure RMN is saying the purchases are fraudulent, I think they're alleging the accounts are fraudulent. That's why the accounts are suspended and not just marking the purchases ineligible.

When RMN started the in-store cashback offers there was a wave of suspensions or shutdowns for people who were operating 2 or more accounts. Even for people who had multiple family members to support the number of accounts, if only one or two members were purchasing on behalf of everyone they all got closed. It got rid of people who were abusing the system with multiple accounts for themselves but also households. So I wonder if there was some behavior other than the purchases that's violating their terms and prompted the fraud algorithms. If the pattern of purchases suggest that one person executed them - using the same app or browser with multiple accounts, for example - or if the merchant flagged it as suspicious and refuses commission, could make them think your family is gaming the system.

I don't partake of RMN and have been out for a while so I don't remember their T&C or account setup. But since you said you put in the requests to ask for reconsideration for all the accounts, I fear something in the terms about multiple accounts is what's triggering the suspensions.

I should have kept reading before I replied, we remembered the same event

Those were some good deals. Love it when new things launch with big marketing budgets! I haven't looked in forever, do they still do the in-store cashback option? I can't remember why I don't use them anymore other than I prefer MR from Ebates or airline points usually.

Pretty sure that if they see all the requests for reconsideration are coming from the same IP address, it’ll just be a permanent ban. Unless it was masked using a VPN.

Sorry for your troubles. Walmart Chase offers are a wild card due to them being cancelled for no apparent reason.
Depending on the terms, I think it's best to use these offers in-store. I'll be sure to add a DP in the future.

I've not read anywhere of Chase extending an offer once it was used but if you call them, please keep us informed.

No worries! Glad I am not crazy or making that up. I looked at the RMN terms again yesterday and saw this:

"Use of any automated means or more than one account is prohibited and will result in disqualification."

I agree that this is most likely what caused the issue rather than an ineligible purchase.
