Oh, those are fancy! I like them. Sadly they are probably still cheaper than my no name glasses, because my eyes have to be stupid. The pair I have now were over $800.

Oh my goodness, that's crazy! I don't know how much it all cost, eye exam, a few tests that they ran, frames, lenses and the extra stuff I added to the lenses like the cut, anti glare etc.. after insurance, I really have no clue what it actually came to. I just handed the bill to DH

$800 just for the glasses or the package?

Speaking of lenses, my optometrist told me I could replace new lenses into my frames only once. Is this true for you? What gives? If the frames are in really good shape, why can't they be used repeatedly?

With DH insurance, we're only able to get new glasses (frames & lenses) every two years and our son every year.

Accurate. Has to do with the stability and other stuff I can't remember. Stability as far as where the lense go not the full frame with arms. Never been able to replace lenses more than once is any pair going back to the 90s when I got my first pair. Part of why I like Costco for glasses.

I haven't check Costco but I'll definitely keep that in mind.

I'm having issues with Visa, Mastercard and VV at amazon.
Physical gc were purchased at Kroger & Office Depot
VV from giftcards. com
Various amount are were on these GC ranging from $10-$45.

I've loaded the above to my account and tried to reload my amazon gift card. I can add the funds but not fully drain them. Now they all have a balance of $5.95.
When going back days, weeks later to drain the $5.95, it won't let me.
What gives? I've had zero issues last year.

Wow, really? No one has had the same issue at amazon?

Frames, lenses and coatings. My frames were only 150. It's the rest thats ridiculous. And our vision insurance is a joke here, so it's actually cheaper to not have it for me bc my eye dr gives a discount for cash payments. By the time i'd have paid premiums, deductibles and the rest it would have cost more than just paying OOP. I have great health insurance but our dental and vision is crap.
I tried Zenni once and they were so off center or whatever. I have progressive lenses and the center point was not where it needed to be and I couldn't wear them.

@dez1978 mine are progressive lenses as well. Have you tried reaching out to an insurance broker? I don't even know if that's still a thing after Covid, but back when I was working for my FIL, his company didn't offer any insurance. I had 6 employees who needed it and I was contacted by a broker. He set us up with other people to form group insurance policies. The more people you have in your group the better.

I'll even add, some but not all opted in for life insurance. Sad part, when my nephew committed suicide his mother actually got fully paid. I know that's unheard of but it's true, according to the broker it was not excluded and the insurance company had to pay. The broker hand delivered the check to me so I saw it.

If you have co-workers, friends or family looking to get better eye & dental insurance, find out if a broker can help. It never hurts to ask!
You're not signing up for anything, just asking about prices.

Time to walk the pups, yes new route. Oh, we never got winter storm #2, just light dusting and frigid temps with the wind chill. Have gear, will play!

I work for the state so in theory we should have good stuff, but they switched from VSP to NVA and it's awful.

Another "not a way to save" My kid broke his leg in early december. Took him to the ER did all the things. Got crutches there, follow up appts with in network providers etc. He got a walking boot a couple of weeks ago. For some reason Breg which is who provides the boot and crutches, is not in network so I'm paying the full amount for them instead of the 20% I'd have paid if they were in network. But it's not like I got a choice of what crutches or boot, or was told that those wouldn't be covered as in network. Nooo. Full amount be there is a whole seperate out of network deductible.

Side note, it's not even Feb and I've met our deductible for the year

My kate spade frames were under 100 and you can find Kirkland brand under 50. I do start looking for frames several months before I need them but the KS sell out fast because they get so few at a time. With the trend in big frames makes KS about my only option for a small frame since I have a small head/face it's what I need. You can bring framea from elsewhere but they charge a fee.

What is the difference between an insurance agent and a broker?

Insurance agents and insurance brokers can both help you buy an insurance policy. But insurance agents represent the insurance provider that employs them and help sell policies from that single provider. Insurance brokers represent the consumers who use them and can help them shop for policies from multiple providers.

This is really strange! And that $5.95 sounds suspiciously similar to the activation fee on those cards, which, of course, you would have already paid.

Exactly! I'm not sure who I need to call but the funds are there on all of them. Ugh!

I signed up for RMN cash back for the first time this week. My first attempts on the ShopDisney deal seem to have been successful. I got 3 transactions all tracking with $50 total cash back (spaced out by 24 hours).

I didn't get a chance to try RMN with Best Buy because I maxed out there before I had a chance. But I happily did manage to get 14 cards (last 6 after switching to business account) on the BB offer.

Our PIF date for our cruise is coming up so I'll keep watch here for some more options. I'm about 2/3 of the way there in gift card deals so far.

DOSH hasn't had Office Depot for me in a while. I keep hoping it'll come back before the Chase offer expires at the end of February. But I'm starting to wonder if they've blocked me from that offer because I used it a lot last year.

I never see Office Depot anymore. I hit it so hard in past years that they actually shut down my Dosh account - they fortunately reinstated it after I asked nicely, and even let me keep my existing cash back! But no OD since then. I also wish they’d bring back Sam’s Club!
