I just got an email from Gift card outlets which I've never heard of advertising 14% off DGC. is this the new gift card deal site? I'm staying far away from it, just wondering if anyone else got this

I'm interested. I just looked up the site. They have them available. But I'm not sure how to check if it's a scam?

I found this site a week ago and was super excited after seeing the discounts, but I did a google search for reviews and almost all say it’s a scam. 😭. If anyone takes the risk and orders a card let us know!

I googled and it has a ton of complaints that cards were never rec'd so I'm guessing it is scam-ish. I just wondered if GCD turned into this site after the mess earlier in the year

I wonder as well. I had good luck with GCD for years. Years and years of 20% off, then 16% off. Then eventually got scammed on my last $1000 and had to get my refund from the credit card company. So I'm not moving forward with this new site, but for years GCD was not a scam, or at least I didn't get scammed (until this summer). So I am still curious.

Wouldn't touch anything I have not already heard of with a 10 foot pole. ESPECIALLY with DGC as Disney is reported to be incredibly aggressive if fraud is suspected- to the point of freezing all the Disney funds in an online profile and/or all the funds on the suspect gc and any gc the suspect funds ever got comingled with.

I agree with @gottalovepluto.

And I'll add this to the mix, if this were a valid site I'm 100% positive we would have seen FB posts and GCG & DOC would have written about them, after all they sell Home Depot & Apple gift cards and we've read nothing.

I would steer clear! I know some may want to test the waters here, but it's one more site with YOUR personal info.
No thanks!

During the Bernie Madoff Ponzi Scheme, there were plenty of people who were getting paid and made a lot of money while at the same time there were other people who weren't getting paid. These scams only work if some people get paid and by word of mouth get other people to join.

So I don't think it is fair to say that for years GCD was not a scam. It was always a scam, whether they were sending valid gift cards to some people and not others, or they sent a few valid ones at the beginning just to lure people in.

Let's be realistic, I don't think there has ever been a legitimate website that has sold Disney gift cards at a discount of more than 10%. Some of us achieve more than 10% by combining Amex/Chase offers or by getting money back through portals which we get lucky and post when they are not supposed to. But any website that is offering Disney gift cards for more than 10% off (and probably even more than 8% off) is almost guaranteed not to be legitimate.

FYI
so yesterday I received an email from what appeared to be Best Buy...it was an invoice for the purchase of a “GEEK” 2 yr service contract for $599.99. I do have an acct with Best Buy but have only purchased several gift cards during their special deal. So just to be on safe side I called BB and told them about the invoice and after 10 min of holding while they checked it out as I suspected and hoped it is a scam.

View attachment 725865L
the helpline number just rings busy...and the BB customer service rep said definitely not to Call the number anyway. I did have a service contract 4 yrs ago but it was waste of $ so I canceled it at that time. Also the BB customer service rep said that Best Bany doesn’t even have a service contract for that amt the actual cost of their service contract would be $199.00

I asked what was on the email header/subject line? Honestly I would not have opened the email on a cell without verifying who sent it.

To all,
I received an email today from Kohl's., this is what it looks like on my cell. The header/Subject line reads: Pending-Order Please confirm receipt
Thank you for shopping at KOH'LS.

  • Red Flag #1 Confirm receipt - I have NEVER received anything remotely like this from any place I do business with.
  • Red Flag #2 I haven't placed an order with Kohl's in years. YEARS. I don't even have an account with them nor do I have their credit card.
  • Red Flag #3 When logging into my email on my laptop, this is where the Kohl's email originated from:

I don't know who this bozo is 371@onlineocr.net
It certainly isn't kohl's

When you receive an email containing an unknown subject from an unknown sender, do not open it. This simply confirms to the sender that somebody is reading the mail. The message could contain executable code that launches immediately after opening the email. Similarly, do not click any links embedded in the message or use a phone number listed on the email.

If you're unsure or have concerns, contact the company directly. Go to their website to get contact information; email, phone number or chat.

Don't just trash the email, empty it so it's gone for good!
