It warrants it's own thread that everyone can see vs putting it in here where not everyone would. I also think most here are aware it can happen from other instances. A new thread helps bring that awareness to all on the board.

I can appreciate that but I do believe along posting here or at the very least a link to the thread would have been beneficial to all especially the newbies. Not everyone has marked they wish to see new threads on their accounts.

When buying Disney Gift Cards from these sites please know there are THREE types or DGC's. Wait, what!? Yes, this has been confirmed and unfortunately you may not know which DGC you are purchasing, here is the break down:

• General Use - Can be used for resort reservations, tickets, merchandise
• WDW Shopping and Dining Gift Card - Self explanatory
• Disney Store and Shop Disney Gift Card - Self explanatory

It's very important to read the fine print prior to purchasing. Some sites do list them separately but many do not.

I haven't seen any recent posts, from my understanding Disney Store gift cards cannot be combined with general use Disney gift cards.

I'm not at all well versed on PayPal so hopefully someone who is can help me.

I want to buy Universal HHN Private Tour package. I'm not sure of the cost but I'm allowed 10 people. If someone were to pay me their share, say $600 through PayPal, would I be subject to the 1099-K form?

Edit to add: I did see About That 1099-K From Paypal by DoC. Unfortunately as I mentioned earlier, my head is pounding! So I do hope you can help.

You would not get a 1099-k if they send you a friends and family payment. If they send you $ as goods and services, then yes.

This information is very important and serves as a reminder to all of us in the Disney GC game and when consolidating on the Disney gift card site.
Here's what happened:

I am freaking out. Someone stole the funds from my gift card. I had it linked in the Disney gift card website where I would transfer funds from smaller cards onto this main card. I had $785 on it and now it’s gone!! The only help I got was to email guest services. Then as I pressed the girl on the phone to give me more assistance she transferred me to shop Disney where they sent an alert to the gift card department to get in touch with me.
Transaction history shows the bulk of the money was spent at Disneyland resort. I’ve never been to Disneyland in my life. I’m really worried I won’t get this money back. I can’t believe this happened and now I just have to sit and wait for someone to get in touch with me! Posted on Mar 16, 2022

We've long recommended that you do not store your DGC on disneygiftcards.com as this is not the first incident reported, though it is most recent. For you newbies, please take heed.

Here's what I don't understand. The full number isn't given on the Disney Gift Card site so the money would have had to have been transferred off using the website which would have shown as a transfer NOT as a purchase at Disneyland. Furthermore, when logging into the DGC website, you get alerted via an email of a sign in to your account, which should also raise red flags so I don't see how this could have originated from the website. Regardless, I don't leave my cards stored there UNLESS I'm on vacation and have cards with me. In which case I do leave an empty and my full one up there in case I lose the full one, I can quickly transfer funds to an empty.

I surprised I got an email considering I don't use this card and to top it off I have 14 offers of places I'll never shop at. Still, it was nice of them.

Thats a strong possibility. Dh's gmail got hacked about 3 years ago. They were able to get into his Chase acct, Cash app, and several others before we even realized what happened. Thats why I'm so careful about having bank accts or debit cards tied to anything. This person managed to charge about $75k to his chase cards and ACH payments to the cards from our business acct and charge again. IT was caught when legit payments got kicked back due to lack of funds. This all happened in about 10 days.

It was a pain. But, since I'm trying to be a less negative person, the positive side is I now check all of my accts almost daily and if I see something weird I'm calling dh asking if it was him.

The most frustrating thing is that these hackers just get away with it. Dude got thousands of dollars worth of stuff. Chase provided me with the name and address he'd changed the acct to (so that the bills went there not to us) and we gave it to the police and nothing was done.

I checked my BJ's account for the $10 off coupon and I didn't have the one that is $10 off any purchase but I got a duplicate of this one ($10 off $200 or more) with an updated expiration date of 4/7/22.

Twilghtsprkle is exactly right. I had one party pay their HHN tour portion as goods and services, and that $614 was the only amount that PayPal sent a 1099 for. Also there are fees if paid as goods/services through PayPal, but it's free to send as friends/family.
