No great answer to your question. It depends on so many factors (what credit cards are in your wallet, where you live, what warehouse clubs you belong to, etc.). My highest discount is at Kroger when they run 4x fuel points using my Amex Blue Cash Preferred. That will not be best for most others.

How long do you have before you need the gift cards? If you have a while, it's best to just sit tight and watch the thread for the deal that works best for you. If you have to wrangle up some gift cards right away, I would go with the he standard discount of 5% using your Target card or your Discover card at the special categories for the quarter.

For me, the Hy-Vee deal is probably the best right now. I get a $10 Hy-Vee gift card back for every $100 Disney gift card I buy. I buy them with my Fidelity Visa card for an extra 2% off. I get 20 cents in Fuel Perks which comes out to be worth about $3.50 on my DD's empty Subaru Outback tank. So, I spend $100 on a Disney gift card and get back $10 + $2 + $3.50 which comes out to be about a 15% discount. I could get a bigger discount if I had a different credit card (like Amex Blue Preferred).

What I can say regarding cash back from sites like Rakuten and Retailmenot there is NO guarantee. These sites are YMMV. Currently I'm tracking not only my purchase but other DISer's who have purchased gift cards and at this time they are tracking which is positive. Once we receive confirmation of Pay Outs, I will update Post #6:

Cool. I've paid my dues with gift cards for years. They best card for BJs is probably the Discover card, but only when Warehouse Clubs earn 5% cash back in April-June. You'll want to use the card that you get the most cash back from. If you have a card that has variable cash back depending on the dates (like Discover) you should see what places are included in December and January.
