Hi..My SIS is trying to throw together a trip 6/29-7/5. Only valid booking code is for AP holders. She is willing to do that if it works out $ wise, but here's the thing. They REALLY want CBR, but as of this mornings call, only rack rate of $144 availble, but they have the dates she needs. CSR has AP rate of $83(inc. tax) BUT-no room available for their last night of the 4th.( No surprise w/ FTP starting that day) WL and AKL have a standard at $134...worth it to switch for 1 night? that starts cutting into the AP savings overall compared to rack at CBR which is where they really want to stay but that rate is killing them. Here's the breakdown:
CBR 6 NITES@$144--$864:( exact dates/hotel wanted)
CSR 5 nites @ $83---$415:D (need to add last night at AKL A/O
WL @ $134 or CBR/ $144)
$549/$559 PLUS cost of AP as opposed to 7 day PHP(THEY ARE PLANNING TO GO BACK AT X-MAS FOR 5 DAYS--PLAN TO USE WATERPARKS MOST OF THIS TRIP)
$195---- totaling $745 give or take.
SOOOOO...Cbr/no hassle switch 864
CSR/switch/AP 745
difference of $90..but possible AP discount for Dec. at WL which she already has ressies for.

Anyone able to follow this?;) Since they are trying to get the 2 trips they are def. planning on the 7/4 PH tix, the WL rate for Dec. is rack/$221 inc. tax....ohhh my aching head! And I'm not even going! I am doing this for my nephew's sakes!!!!!!!!!!!

I followed you unti you said this...

"Since they are trying to get the 2 trips they are def. planning on the 7/4 PH tix"

I'm not sure what you mean by that since you had said they were talking about getting annual passes.

A couple of other questions...

1)Does your costs include the price difference between PH's and an AP or a PAP? Just wondering as there's a pretty significant difference in price between the 2, but just a regular AP won't get them into the water parks.

2) I noticed you didn't include the increase of $195 for the AP/PAP on the CBR rate. If they stay at the CBR are they going to just get PHP's?

Have I gotten you sufficiently confused?;)

O.K., :D They are getting 1 adult PAP for water park use, 2 adult 7/4 and 1 child 7/4 PH. IF they choose the CSR route, that is also adding in the 195. they are not adding the 195 to CBR because they cannoy get AP rate there right now, only rack is available. They are getting only 1 PAP as it is for the room discount. It is a risk to assume that there will be AP discounts in Dec., but historically there have been, and since there is now , at the same time as FTP she is hopeful. If they choose CBR AND get 1 adult PAP, the only benefit will be in hopes that they can get a discount for Dec., and that thae discount will be for more than the 195 cost diff. I told them to not eat out at fast-food for 2 months and it will all be a wash.....;)
A) If they get 1 adult PAP $525 (ROUGHLY)
2 adult 7/4 PH $335 ea. $660
1 child 7/4 PH $260
TIX TOTAL approx. $1445
CSR 5 NITES $415 (AP rate)
AKL/WL 1 NITE $134 (AP rate)
TOTAL $1994
And she is looking to work out 6 nites @ WL in Dec. for $1000 or better. Her goal is 2 trips for $3000.
B) If they dont do the PAP at all and do all 7/4 PH'S:
3 ADULT 7/4 $1005
1 CHILD 7/4 $260
CBR 6 nites (rack) $864
TOTAL $2129

Difference of $135 for June trip..but no chance of a AP discount for DEC.
C) Current total for WL in Dec. is 1326 (6 nites)
SO... A and C totals 3320
B and C totals 3455
either way she needs to drop over $300 off to reach her goal....

I thinks she should do the PAP route, and if there are no rates at X-mas, book CBR then...to make her goal reachable...but she is dreaming of WL at the Holidays. Such troubles...I wish I had them!;)

IMHO......just comparing the cost of resort....
$84 at CSR vs $144 at CBR....NO BRAINER !!! go with CSR.
I've stayed at both and if you can request Cabanas at CSR.....it is just about the same.

As for the tickets.....the way I look at it....anything over 7days you are better off with AP (not including water parks). anything over 10 days you are better off with PAP (includes water parks, etc.)

You only need to purchase one AP to get the discount, So I don't see much of a difference in prices there.
Even with switching to WL you are still saving $320!!! That is practically the price of a AP.

Go with CSR, then if you don't want to switch, keep calling to add the last day!!
If you don't get it......you will have a great view of the MK fireworks from WL!!!!!!!

I totally agree with Cindyfan. The CSR is wonderful. I bet if she keeps trying she'll be able to get the last night. Or she make the CSR rez and keep trying for CBR if that's what her heart is set on.

I called a few weeks ago, no availablity at CBR. A week later I was able to get exactly what I wanted. People move resort ressies, or cancel frequently.

I would go with CSR for sure.

We just got back yesterday from CSR, and it was incredible. We stayed in Cabana 9B which was very close to the dig site and also the Pepper Market. They have an awesome pool and a great waterslide. I too was torn between CSR and CBR and I am so happy we went with CSR. We will definitely return.

I think I have it now.:)

I agree with the others, I'd go with CSR and get the PAP with the possibility of using it during Christmas. As you said, there's no guarantee, but I'd be awfully surprised if there aren't AP discounts.

Even if there aren't to pay $144 for the CBR when you can get a comparable moderate for not much more than half that is awfully expensive. Plus with staying at CSR she gets a deluxe resort for one night.

Before I'd stay at the CBR for $144, I'd be staying at AKL or WL for the $134 rate!

One last question...if you're just getting the pap for the room discount, why not get a child's pass?

Another vote for CSR.
We just returned tuesday, and loved everything about this resort. If the idea of conventions, etc. is making you hesitate, don't worry. There was a symposium going on while we were there and the only reason we knew about it was because there was a sign in the lobby. We stayed in Cabanas 8A and were very happy with the location. Good luck.

This may just add to the confusion, but do they really need the PAP? Is the cost of a daily admission to the water parks for the 4 days they would use it worth the extra dollars? Just getting a regular AP for the room discount and then paying for the water park on a daily basis may be less if they are only going 4 days. That is assuming that in Dec they will spend all the time at the parks. Dose that make sense? I do not have the numbers to check but I do know the AP is much less than the PAP.:)

WHAT?? There in NO WAY that CBR is worth that kind of money. $83 at CSR is a STEAL!!!! I would use that last day to relax at WL or AKL-totally worth saving the money and getting the last night at a deluxe!!!

O.K. I'm back...dizzy, but back.
Disneycrazymom...you are absolutely right...individual adult entry to WP's is $31 p day and same for DQ if they hold that one for Dec. use. That would total to be $27 less than PAP and if they didn't end up going she's not out the $ and the others have the days that don't expire.
I think I saw somewhere, Mousesavers probably, about a $4 per day discount to WP's...but will have to go back and search.
Looks like they are going to go for CSR, at this late notice for planning etc., she's lucked out. I also said if she doesn't want to pay that for the last night, to try DD hotel etc. They will be at the park late for the fireworks etc. anyway, and they are driving so could put all their stuff in the car or leave at CSR services and load car later and check into Hiliday Inn or whatever for cheap rate.
peachgirl, they are getting an adult pass because technically the ressie is in Sis name and I know people have gotten away w/using a childs B4. but I will only help her out if she is honest. Besides, I sure wouldn't want to risk that on the Dec. ressies if indeed an AP rate does come out. I think too, and if tey somehow use up more park days on the June trip than origionally planned, the can all upgrade to a AP right? if they wanted....and maybe squeek in ANOTHER TRIP IN SPRING! YIIIIKKKKEEESS! What am I saying!
Thanks everyone....I knew you all could help me see things clearly.

I wasn't in any way suggesting she should do something dishonest. I wouldn't have given my time and effort if someone were trying to "get away" with something nor would I give any suggestions on how to do anything like that.

The requirement is that one person in the room must have an AP in order to qualify for an AP discount. At least that's what I was told by CRO and have seen it repeated here many times.

Sorry if you thought my suggestion was in anyway a tip on how to get away with anything.

Peachgirl...Sorry for my poor wording that made my post sound negative..:o I used to think the same thing about the childs pass but when I called CRO this morning CM even asked if ressie was in AP holders name, that that is the requirement, so I didn't want to blow their whole trip over $100. I really do appreciate all your time and effort...you were the first to try and figure this mess out!;) I am just tired after all the resaerch today and as I said, didn't think about how what I was saying would sound. If anything, I was telling SIS that SHE better be honest...or be willing to risk the outcome.
Please accept my humble apology.

No problem at all. I just wanted to make sure that no one thought I was trying to skirt the rules.

As often as I complain on these boards about people trying to get past the rules, I can hardly afford to advocate doing it!;)

Thanks for the information on what you found out about the AP though. I sure wish CRO would start giving out consistent information.

It took well over half a dozen phone calls and some help from these boards just to get them to sell me an UPH for one person in our group in advance! 3 of the 4 of us have PAP's and one needed an UPH. For 6 months CRO has been telling me that I couldn't buy one in advance. When the at the gate price increases came, I was one unhappy WDW fan. After some very helpful information from these boards and 3 more phone calls I finally got them to do it!

There, that's my rant for today...I feel much better!

A DTD hotel is a GREAT idea!!! there are so many good rates out now.

I just noticed your countdown clock...have a blast Peachgirl....
Susy...that's what I thought...I would do DTD hotel in a heartbeat especially for the amount of time they will be in it. I also thought if they chose to do DQ if the weather was rainy that it would be super-convenient...but I guess that's just me. The only drawback I could think of was not having their luggage moved for them from resort at WDW, but like I said, they are driving and have a bit of flexibility. I'm not sure, but does anyone know if the DTD hotels will hold your luggage at the bell services while you hit the parks? Given the crowds that will be checking into on-site parks for day one of FTP, I think they are better off not getting caught in that plus the huge park crowds for that day. Enjoy the hotel pool and hit MK later for the fireworks as was suggested earlier. Of course, that's just me and one must be ready to alter plans due to weather etc....sigh...I wish I could join them...but my kids would NEVER forgive me!

Finfan...Thanks! We can't wait to go! This week is moving so slow I don't think it'll ever get over with. The funny thing is, I know once we get there, next week will fly by!

Here's the problem with obsessive planning....3 days to go and I can't think of a last minute detail I need to take care of. So, here I am trying to figure out other people's vacation details. I already feel like I'm going through WDW withdrawal! ;)

Maybe I could start checking into an early December trip just to get one last use out of those PAP's we bought last Christmas!

3 trips would really be getting your $$$$ worth...call and book the room now...you'll enjoy your upcoming trip more knowing you already have that little detail taken care of!;) After all, Dec is only 6 mo's away! I can't believe I just said that...It still has been like winter here in Chicago...today was pretty nice tho!

We just got back from CBR Jamaica, building 41, room 4133. It's an end room with two large windows. CBR is a beautiful place, but I doubt we'll go back unless it's winter. The pool area is just not that great. Let me say that we are FL residents and have our own swimming pool - quiet pools are not what we go to Disney for. The slide at CBR is good for little kids (I'd say under 8 yo). My 8 & 10 said 1) the pool was too small; 2) the water slide was too short and "lame"; 3) the hot tub was tiny.

The rooms are gorgeous - so is the landscaping! Two sinks in the bathroom are very handing - especially with 4 of us. The OPR food and shopping is very cool. It looks like your walking down a street. The food choices were very good too.

We'd go back for the room, but not during swimming season. The pool area at CSR rocks! I wish they'd make the Pepper market more like OPR at CBR.
