I posted A question about some of the rides at DL Ca. I got some very helpful responses. I am taking my 2 little grandchildren and my 25 year old niece. She is very big (size 28) and scared she will have trouble fitting on the rides. People have been very helpful in letting me know that she will be fine on the slow kids rides but I am stil worried about the bigger faster rides.
Do they use seatbelts on the big rides (space mount, splash mount, matterhorn, rockin rollercoaster etc)? Or is it shoulder harnesses. Any advice on what not to worry about and what to avoid would be a big help. She is so nervous and I want to ease her worries. Thanks a lot!!!

Tell her not to worry!!

Hmmm.... lets see

Space mountain - closed

Splach mountain - no seat belt or shoulder harness

matterhorn - seat belt large enough for two people to ride together

rockin rollercoaster - isn't that at WDW?

Pirates of the Carribean - no seat belt or harness

Haunted Mansion - just a bar that that comes down to rest (where you start)

Hope this helps!!

The Astro Orbiter will only fit one large adult. I don't like this ride as I feel like I'm falling out.

Splash Mountain appears narrow, but she probably will fit. I'm a 24/26 and I fit. Make sure she sits in the last seat (you can ask for this). You want the most weight at the back of the boat to avoid getting soaked.

On the Matterhorn she can ask to have her own car. I always do because two adults is a tight squeeze.

California Screamin' uses over the shoulder harnesses. She may be more comfortable with a child or no one next to her.

The other DCA coaster (can't think of the name) she will probably want to sit alone on as well. I was next to my size 10 friend and they put a cushion on the bar to fill the gap from me. I could barely breath it made the bar so tight on me. In the future I'll ride that one alone!

The other ride that I can think of that uses seat belts is grizzly river rapids they do have extenders available, alert the cast memeber as you board that you may need an extender.

Dear Madhatter,

Tell you niece not to worry. I am a size 26 and I ride all of the rides with my 5 1/2 year old daughter. She is 55 pounds and we never have trouble fitting together. The only ride that is a safety issue for her is Mulholland Madness in CA, where they put a special pad over the bar to make it tight for her.

Enjoy your trip and don't worry.

My DH is a big guy and he the only ride he had a problem with was at California Adventures. I can't remember the name of it but it's the one where they shoot you straight up this tower.

He did everything else and was fairly comfortable. But men handle those things better than women do because they're not as worried about being embarrassed.

Hi there! Please don't worry about your neice fitting on the rides. My sis is a size 28 and has never had a problem with any of the rides at Disneyland. At DCA the only ride that we had any problem on was Mulhulland Madness, which they just made her ride alone.

Hope you all have a great time!
