Update- page 3. Omg! AAA did not pay off our package and Disney cancelled it!

OH thank goodness! With the resorts being so full, I was really worried for you. I will never go through AAA now. You can tell them they are going to lose business because of this because everyone that has read this post I'm sure will think twice about using them. Give 'em heck!!!

First of all I'm glad it all got worked out. Second, the way you were treated was unexceptable and you should complain about it. what would have happened if you hadn't checked, arrived and found out you had no reservations.

Like I said before, I will get my AAA room only discount, but I will go directly through CRO for it.

Denise, I'm so happy things worked out. That Disney magic is still there! After the day you've had, I think you need something a little more than Diet Coke tonight! After your kids are in bed, go light candles in your bathroom, pop in a soothing CD, fill up the tub with bubbles and soak with a glass of wine! Does wonders.

Glad to hear everything worked out for you.

How do you find an AAA Disney Specialist? I'm planning to use AAA for our Easter trip.

And since about 2 weeks into it I swore I would never use them again unless the discount was so good I couldn't pass it up. I am so glad that all of your stuff is back on track again and I hope that your trip is nothing less than magical to make up for this mistake. DEFINITELY go up the chain in AAA. I know that I will be going out of the office that is doing my stuff and complaining when I return. I just don't trust them not to mess anything more up before I leave once they find out I complained. They should have been the ones who cleared up this mess and you shouldn't have had to shed a single tear over your vacation...

I just signed on, and read all the trauma you've been through today, Denise, and I'm SOOOOO glad it had a good outcome! :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: You must be so relieved!

I just paid off my vacation through AAA yesterday, and when I went in to the office, I learned my TA had transferred to another branch. Made me a little nervous, to say the least, because she still has my account files and everything! The nice lady that took her place helped me out, though, and made a few changes to my room requests, and CALLED IN THE PAYMENT while I was sitting in the office with her, so I'm fairly confident it is in. Nevertheless, because of your experience, I'm going to check on it in a week and see that everything is in order. Luckily, I paid it off well in advance of the due date, so I can do that.

Again, I'm thrilled that you got everything back. Slam the heck outta those losers in your AAA branch!

YEAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The pixie dust works.....I do believe in fairies!!! :wizard: :wizard: :wizard:

I am so glad you got things worked out!!! :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

Thanks everyone! I just called CRO and spoke with Michelle, a really NICE CM! she said it is Paid in Full! Thank goodness. Now I just get to worry about them getting our documents to us, etc. I appreciate all the well wishes. Now, I'm going to go watch Alabama and have a beer!

After all of this drama, you should have more than one.

I'm so glad it got worked out.

Denise, I'm so glad everything worked out. :goodvibes

For those who are now swearing off using AAA agencies in the future, please keep in mind that just because one or more AAA agents (or even branch managers) are incompetent (and sadly many are based on the posts I've read), doesn't mean that they all are. I've also read negative accounts of other non-AAA travel agents.

I have found that Michelle Shears with AAA Vacations-South Carolina is one of the best. It really pays to get recommendations from others based on their past experience with a travel agent. And I thank those who referred me to her.

You are absolutely right WDWBetsy..one bad apple don't spoil the whole bunch! I am sure that if I travel with the AAA discount again I will use the recommendations on this board. I will not use my local AAA again.

Kelly

Agreeing with Betsy and Kelly. I will not use a particular AAA office's Travel Agency in the future - because when I asked to see their Disney Specialist, I was told they don't have one, that all their TAs 'specialize' in everything (okay, fine, no problem) and because when I did sit down with one and asked about Disneyland's Good Neighbor Hotels, she didn't know what I was talking about. Now, I don't expect every TA to know more than I do about Disney (kinda tough, ya know ;)) but I do expect an AAA Agent to have some general knowledge of Disney.

Thanks, Betsy. That's why I mentioned her in my original update. I will never use my branch again, but will try her for our next trip. I wish I had researched this better beforehand. Good lesson learned!

I really hope to see you and your family while we're there! :wizard:

I had two separate trips messed up by two separate travel agents and vowed - never again. I do it all myself now with complete control over my reservations, my discounts (thanks mousesavers), and my ADRs. I no longer wonder if the travel agent is doing what she is supposed to be doing to earn her commission. As my dad used to say, "if you want something done right, do it yourself!" ;)

I am so glad everything worked out for you! When I originally booked our package with AAA, I loved the TA, then when I go in to pay balance, she had quit. I didn't really care for the TA that was assigned, but at least she did pay off the balance.

Sorry to hear what happened. I would deffinatly would write to AAA HQ and complain big time for that. That was unprofessional to say the least especially the way they talked to you over the phone. At least it turned out good with your reservations. Hope you have a great trip.

Triplefigs: I am so glad this all worked out for you. I have been looking off and on waiting for your reply. I had this very same thing happen to me with AAA with a cruise I booked and that is why I won't use there travel agency at all. I use DU or CRO to get room only discounts. In my opinion the package discounts they offer aren't worth what you just went through, I need the peace of mind that my reservation is in tack.

Have a fabulous trip I know you will.

We went through AAA to get the AAA discount and dining plan. I wish CRO would let you either book that with them or DU or any other travel agent. I don't know if the savings was worth the hassle or worry today.

Thanks to all again for the well wishes! and ROLL TIDE! Bama beat Tennessee!

Wow! I'm so glad to hear this all worked out! All the pixie dust sent your way must have worked! Have a great trip!
