**UPDATE - P.2**~Message from WM Alex re: board problems~

I made a huge number of changes to the boards last nite in order to try and help those with who are having problems accessing the boards. You will notice that a number of features are temporarily unavailable. If those that were having problems could let me know ASAP if things are better it would speed up the process of getting things back to normal!

Hi, I am having t4ouble getting into the boards..I can get to resorts...thank goodness...and theme park stratagies...that is it..I can not open and of the others up..they go almost and then stop..Is it my computer or the site...I miss my other boards...thanks...amy

Amy - are you using AOL?

If so, minimize it, and enter the site using Internet Explorer instead - let me know if it works!

I don't know the exact trouble you were having, but I noticed it was faster. I have a cable modem and these threads still took forever to load, one of the only sites I had a "slow" issue with. This morning I am able to zip right in and out of the threads, don't know if it's just because it's early and people may be at work though.

I haven't been able to get in for the past few days on AOL.

Thanks for the tip on minimizing AOL and going through Internet Explorer...it worked great and I'm back getting all the necessary info I'll need for our March 9-14 trip!

Amy - on your browser window, you should see a little box in the top right corner with a line through it. Click on that, and it'll hide the AOL browser without quitting it or logging you off. Then launch Internet Explorer and use that for your DIS surfing

These are just short-term fixes - hopefully Alex will find the problem soon and things can go back to normal

Do you have a big letter E on your desktop? This will be Internet Explorer.

If not, try looking in your Programs Folder in the Start Menu.

If it's not in there for some reason...

1) Right click on the Start button
2) Click "Explore"
3) Type an address in the address bar and "Windows Explorer" will invoke "Internet Explorer" by default

Since the snow storm 10 day ago (not that this has anything to do wiht it), many people have reported problems accessing Disboards from AOL. I contacted my cable company, AOL and even my computer company. Thank God it was not the computer, or the cable as this saved me a lot of money which would have been spent for nothing.

Ont eh Tech Support Board was a list of what people were experiencing so that the webmasters could try and pinpoint a possible problem.

Using AOL, I can't access the boards. it loads to about 75-90% and just stops. The my computer becomes extremely slow.

If you have problems, try and post your specific symptoms to help out the technical folks who work so hard to keep these bpards running......

My computor is doing the exact same thing...goes to about 60% and then stops...then makes every thing else run slow...I can get in to resorts and theme park forums...thank goodness for that...please try and get them working..I miss my boards...thanks..amy I can not get to the tech board...I tried...

Amy - did using Internet Explorer instead of the AOL browser not make any difference at all!? That's worked as a temporary fix for everyone else so far.

Disneymad- I don't know if your instructions helped Amy, but they helped me incredibly! Thank you sooooooooooo m much for the instructions on how to access through internet explorer- I didn't know how to do it and you explained it very well. I am now able to access the website and all the forums. Thanks too everyone at tech. support too- they're great!!! Yeah I can visit the dis again!!!

I've been having problems for the last 10 -14 days. What you said above (Using AOL, I can't access the boards. it loads to about 75-90% and just stops. The my computer becomes extremely slow) is exactily what is happening, only my computer doesn't get slow, AOL freezes up. I blamed it on AOL (now I know I am right, I'M NOT CRAZY!!!LOL) I just switched to accessing the board thru IE and haven't had any problems going that route. Thanks for letting us know what is going on.

I have AOL and I haven't been able to get on this board, either. Someone on another board said to try using Internet explorer and that has been working, but I don't like to use it, I would rather be able to get on through AOL. I can't keep an eye on my mail whe I have IE opened.

Disneymad.....I do have the Internet explorer icon both at the desktop and at the bottom but every time I try to go in through the explorer browser it takes me to the microsoft internet access screen. Even though I follow the instructions for set up I can only get so far and then it won't dial out. What am I doing wrong? Amy

I've also been having problems accessing the DIS Boards on AOL for almost 2 weeks. I've even tried using my son's computer who has DSL and was unable to access it through AOL. I figured out that it wasn't just my computer since my son's didn't work either. I finally decided about a week ago or so to try accessing the DIS through Internet Explorer and have had no trouble with it now. I'm glad to hear that I'm not the only one having problems.

We are 95% sure we have found the problem. It will take several days to clear it all up but things should revert to normal gradually.
